RE: The Hive Gamification Proposal

Hi @hivebuzz, @arcange, @techybear, @captaink, and @lizanomadsoul! I really LOVE what you all are doing. The Hive Buzz project really is a great idea because it brings the community together around productive achievement and connection!

Recently I posted a #CelebrityWatch picture of myself and Arnold Schwarzenegger exclusively here on the Hive Blockchain (and promotionaly on Twitter, Facebook, and Fitbit). ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER4.jpg

The post got quite a lot of attention however... I think we, as a community, can do a whole lot better! I was thinking we could put a challenge together where people on the Hive Blockchain share photos of themselves with their favorite star/famous person. I realize this is going to be a really hard thing to do, especially with all the precautionary measures being taken with COVID-19... But I think that this could be the reason this is such a good idea! It's difficult so it should catch more attention here on Hive and on the other social media platforms.

Hive community members could either dig up old photos or they could attempt to have a photo taken with themselves and a famous person.

Of course, I think it would make sense that the account holder is in the picture along with the celebrity to avoid people just re-posting photos from the internet. As well... I also think this would be a perfect opportunity to also share the photo and a link pointing back to the Hive Blockchain. We want the fan's around the world to pay attention to what we are doing here on Hive and I think this might be a good way to do that! We may even get some star attention. You never know!

I'm not sure which hashtag would be best but what do you think about the one I used above? #CelebrityWatch or perhaps #HiveFamous, #CelebrityHive or #HiveCelebrity might also be good options.

So what do you all think?

Now for some constructive feedback: As I mentioned above... I LOVE what you all are doing with the @HiveBuzz project! It's awesome and I'm prepared to vote for this proposal (if it's not already enacted!)

My feedback however is that it would make sense to advance away from the previous Steem classifications. I used to love the redfish, minnow, dolphin, orca, and whale concept but it just doesn't work here on the Hive Blockchain. We need to completely re-brand those classifications don't you think?

Perhaps this is what some of the proposal funds will go towards in the future... I hope so anyways!

Ok! That's it from me!

I look forward to hearing back from you guys! :)

P.s. I just voted for this proposal with this account: @wil.metcalfe, @AdventureReady, and @BeachReady! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Thank you for your support and feedback @wil.metcalfe, much appreciated!

We do not plan to rebrand the user's classification. It's not based on Steem but on the global cryptosphere vocabulary, especially about whales.

We brainstormed on moving to a "bee" ecosystem, but it doesn't work, mainly because it would have been more role oriented when the current classification is weight oriented.

Thank's for your response @hivebuzz team!

I have taken some time to think... Before the week picks up I thought I had better come back here.

I certainly understand the ideas behind the current user classification. The only problem I see is it's strong affinity with the previous ecosystem on Steem(it) and a difficult fit from the branding end of things.

I really do think that there could be huge benefits to a fully thought out re-brand of the user classifications and there would/could also be more support for this proposal.

These badges have the potential to be iconic to the Hive brand as they represent the identity and hard work that each user dedicates to the Hive Blockchain.

I have been wracking my brain trying to come up with something that works... I think that you are right about the direct parallels of the insect world; it being one that's more role orientated. That's probably something we would want to avoid.

What do you think about zooming out from the bee hive and moving into the forest? Perhaps we could draw land rather than water comparisons...

Personally I like the idea of trees in the forest... perhaps different size/type tree's. All homes/ecosystems for honey bee's, birds, raccoon, deer, bear, etc. Or perhaps we could imagine that the Hive ecosystem is the forest and we the account users are the animals in that forest.

They do say that the best time to plant a tree is 100 years ago... So the next best time to plant a tree is today. That might work nicely for promotion don't you think?

I hope that I haven't been to presumptuous here... This is really just me thinking out loud and my best attempt to not just weigh in but lend my mind (so to speak).

So do you think that this idea could this work? Is there benefit to re-imagining the classification system for Hive?

I think that, at the moment, we are all still in transition... If we found a way to effectively step away with the implementation of new classifications. It could go a long way to bringing people together around the Hive Blockchain and forging new, proud, and diverse distinction between where we have been and where we are going as a decentralized community.

What you guys are doing is important. (I think so anyways!)

...so now is the best time to dive deep and think all these sorts of things through carefully don't you think? (Maybe there is even some value in crowd sourcing the community...? That's another idea!)

I hope that I have been of some use.

Let me know if you would like my continued input/brainstorming with this. I'm happy to help wherever I can.

Thank you for your input. As already written, we do not plan to do any rebranding now.

Hey @wil.metcalfe! As you can see hivebuzz is not following anybody at the moment. As it is a project there is no feed required ๐Ÿ™‚

Very strange. It must be some sort of glitch with the esteem app? These notifications came in and had me shaking my head in confusion and wonder... Thank you for your response.
