SteemDer is the first dating platform for Steem users.

On March 15, 2019 is a great premiere!

The platform was created entirely by two people. Our goal was to let people from around the world get to know each other, make friends or maybe even fall in love. There are a lot of dating sites, but the portal for Steem users is not yet available - until today.

Logging in is done via SteemConnect. When logging in for the first time on the website, each user must state his or her gender, language and sexual orientation. SteemDer creates pairs based on this data.

We decided not to choose pairs based on location. This could significantly reduce the number of potential interlocutors for many people.

Then, after logging in, the user can start chatting.

We have introduced additional packages: Premium and Gold.

Thanks to them, the user gains new functionalities, such as a larger number of available interlocutors or the ability to send photos.

We are constantly expanding the capabilities of our platform. We plan to add some new features in the near future, thanks to which the use of SteemDer will be even better and more intuitive.

One of them is the “trusted user”.

Administrators do not have access to chat rooms. As a result, we’re not able to verify if any of the users is not intrusive to others. Of course there is a “ban” option, but we are aware of the fact that someone can send persistent advertising or other spam to many people.

We want to solve this with the “trusted user” function. Each user will be able to rate their interlocutor by giving them a + or -. A person who collects 30 positive ratings will automatically have a trustworthy user badge next to his nickname. On the other hand, a person who receives 30 negative ratings will be removed from the platform.

SteemDer from the technical side

The safety of users is our top priority. We are responsible for their data. While creating SteemDer we had to talk to cryptography professionals in order to make the project safe.

Authorisation via SteemConnect. Our project is designed to “connect Steemian”, so it had to be based on the Steem platform. For authorization we used SteemConnect, which allows us to securely obtain the information we need without sharing a private key with us.

We used the “login” method because it does not require the creation of a private key for the project, so others do not know that we use a dating site.

Many functions (e.g. matching users in pairs) are based on PostgreSQL database functions. We wanted the database to do as many functions as possible instead of the PHP code interpreter.

If you manage to pair us with someone, a chat room is created and the right conversation takes place. In order to be independent from Steem systems (leakage of Private Memo key causes decryption of all messages, not only those to SteemDer). So a new mechanism was needed that would be isolated from the Steem keys, so that in case of a breach of site security, it would not be possible to decipher all messages. An XOR algorithm with a key generator has been used here, thanks to which conversations between two people should be safe and, in case of a database leak - not to be broken.

Bootstrap 4 with Javascript (and AJAX) is responsible for the design, which allowed us to reduce server usage while improving the graphics.

We have huge plans and hopes for our platform. We are full of enthusiasm to satisfy all users and motivated to continue working on our project.
