Claro que al ser un sitio pequeño y poco habitado, los chismes corrían, al igual que leyendas e historias que contaban algunos de los ancianos que vivían en las afueras. Una fría tarde en el mes de octubre, todos los niños estaban terminando sus preparativos para la noche de Halloween, pues cada diez años pasaba un acontecimiento diferente. Existía una leyenda que relataba sobre la existencia de dos brujos que eran hermanos, hijos de la misma madre pero de diferente padre. La versión infantil del cuento era bastante sencilla y los padres la contaban para que los niños no fueran al bosque en la noche ya que”podrían llevarlos y ser convertidos en sapos" pero, existía otra versión que alertaba a la mayoría de las personas que vivían en las afueras del pueblo. —hoy es la noche, deberías decirle a mis nietos que regresen antes de que anochezca.—Claudine era una señora de mediana edad, había llegado al pueblo cuando apenas era una niña, su padre fue una de las personas que ayudó a terminar de construirlo. —no va a pasar nada, mamá. Fue lo último que dijo, agarró los pequeños retazos que tenía sobre la mesa y salió lo más rápido que pudo de la cocina. A los pocos minutos ya estaba en el frente de su casa regando los crisantemos que habían empezado a florecer. Estaba enojada con su hija, no entendía el por qué era tan escéptica cuando ella misma estuvo presente en el montón de desapariciones que pasaron en su adolescencia. Esa época fue bastante difícil para Claudine y ellas demás familias que vivían en las afueras cerca de aquel oscuro y misterioso bosque. Alrededor de catorce niños desaparecieron una noche de Halloween que era igual de especial que esa, nunca se encontraron sus cuerpos. Una de las tantas noches como estas, la anciana (que para esa época tenía unos cuarenta y seis años) había dejado la ventana de su habitación abierta y mientras dormitaba se escuchó un estruendoso grito de ayuda que la sacó del abrazo de Morfeo. Se puso sus zapatos ortopédicos rápidamente y fue rápidamente hacia el bosque, mientras más se adentraba en este las luces de las casas se hacían opacas hasta un punto en el que ni una mísera luz se observaba, solo Tenía de testigo a la luz de la luna y ni una estrella que la acompañara. Cuando dedujo que había llegado al corazón del bosque, pudo visualizar a primera vista una fogata que mostraba lo más terrorífico que había visto en sus cuarenta años de vida. Entre las llamas fervientes de la fogata se podían ver pedazos de piel quemada y algunos restos humanos. Algunos ojos reventados se podían ver encima de unos troncos y pequeñas lenguas con pinchos que sobresalían de ella y tenían algunas otras cosas que la acompañaban. La imagen que todo daba era tan horroroso y asqueroso que la mujer cayó al suelo y empezó a vomitar en el suelo mientras lágrimas caían de sus orbes azules. Cuando pudo recuperarse se levantó y el ruido de una rama romperse, llamó su atención y desvió su mirada hasta un árbol dónde estaba el cuerpo de una pequeña y rubia niña cubierto de sangre, de su estómago se podían ver las tripas y algunos órganos fuera. Al lado de ella estaban dos personas, un hombre y una mujer totalmente desnudos que se besaban mientras en sus manos tenían el corazón de la joven niña. Ella los conocía, esos chicos algunas veces iban a comprar en la panadería y a ella le aparecían tan extraños. Sabía que eran hermanos y que su madre había muerto cuando apenas eran unos niños, vivían en una pequeña cabaña en el bosque con su tía. Sin que ellos la vieran, se fue corriendo lo más rápido que sus piernas le permitieron y más nunca volvió a entrar a ese bosque. —mamá, no encontramos a los niños. When she deduced that she had arrived at the heart of the forest, she could visualize at first sight a bonfire that showed the most terrifying thing she had seen in her forty years of life. Among the fervent flames of the bonfire, pieces of burnt skin and some human remains could be seen. The image it all gave was so horrifying and disgusting that the woman fell to the ground and started vomiting on the floor while tears fell from her blue orbs. When she was able to recover she got up and the sound of a branch breaking caught her attention and she turned her gaze to a tree where the body of a small blonde girl was covered in blood, from her stomach you could see her guts and some organs outside. Next to her were two people, a man and a woman totally naked who were kissing each other while holding the young girl's heart in their hands. She knew them, those guys sometimes went shopping at the bakery and to her they appeared so strange. She knew they were siblings and that their mother had died when they were just children, they lived in a small cabin in the woods with their aunt. Without them seeing her, she ran away as fast as her legs would carry her and never entered the woods again. -Mom, we didn't find the children. When Claudine heard that, she put her scraps aside and ran as fast as she could into the woods.
