The one study I cited was 3 years old, it barely scratches to surface of what's going on. This one study just shows how slight adjustments and algorithm tampering can influence you considerably, whether you know it or not. Tech giants and Intelligence agencies wield more power then sovereign governments – if you hold dissenting views, then you're probably in their crosshairs. You may have noticed how Facebook algorithms show you "like minded" posts on the newsfeed, that means you only see what you already agree with. People who hold dissenting views are now closed off to the rest of the world. When the information is compartmentalized an echo-chamber forms. You have now become virtually "quarantined" putting a halt to the "subversive" information you share. This polarization helps them pit people against each other. While you squabble over identity politics on facebook, they are laughing in their ivory towers.
