Tibia es un videojuego de rol multijugador masivo en línea (MMORPG), desarrollado por CipSoft.

Comenzó en el año 1997 como un programa comercial creado por un grupo de 4 estudiantes alemanes (Guido Lübke, Stephan Payer, Ulrich Schlott y Stephan Vogler). La mayoría de sus gráficos eran similares al clásico juego Ultima Online, y gracias a voluntarios que se encargaron en la administración, la parte artística y el nivel de diseño, se logró transformar a Tibia en un producto comercial a escala profesional.

Actualmente presenta más de 27,000 jugadores de todo el mundo, con 74 servidores entre Estados Unidos y el Reino Unido, incluyendo 2 servidores alojados en Brasil para la comunidad latinoamericana

Actualmente, empezar en tibia es mucho más fácil que hace unos años hay manera de iniciar desde Level 2 y llegar a 100 en un día Lo cual ha llevado al regreso de muchos jugadores que estaban retirados.

En tibia existen 3 tipos de jugadores

1. 2. Los charlovers: Son aquellas personas que mantienen un amor a sus personas e invierten Dinero real en ellos lo cual he visto personas gastar miles de dólares en adquirir ítems.

3. Los pvp playes: son aquellas personas que solo juegan el modo players vs players.

3. Pvp plays: they are those people who only play the players vs players mode.
