Alguna vez leí que los Mayas, a diferencia de nuestra idea lineal del tiempo, concebían el tiempo como empezando en un "punto central" y luego dirigiéndose en varias direcciones "a la vez" a partir de ese punto. Yo nunca *ha* terminado de entender esa idea, seguramente por ser hija del otro tiempo, el de una "flecha" que va de izquierda a derecha, donde su cola es el pasado, su cuerpo el presente y su punta el futuro. Por esto, seguramente, cuando de hablar de mi experiencia de vida se trata, mi primer impulso es situarme en Kalarka, Quindío, Colombia, empezar en octubre de 1984 y continuar con cada dato importante relatado cronológicamente... ![Mi hermano y yo, a finales de los 80](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/lafeedekalarka/ybgxMNht-fe20y20samuel.jpg) Entonces siento, sin embargo, que ésta forma lineal de concebir mi existencia, no es la mejor para describirla. Siento que queda incompleta, que no le hace justicia a la experiencia; entonces recuerdo esa noche del año 2010, que quizá fue tan ordinaria para la mayoría de seres, pero tan especial para mí y me viene a la cabeza esa "teoría" maya, que mi intelecto occidental no termina de entender, pero a la que mi intuición apela para yo expresar*se*. ![Una muestra de mi trabajo como artesana](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/lafeedekalarka/yM6bYOdg-105013229_186469412797070_2817645169256712267_n.jpg) Y es que sentí como si esa noche hubiese sido un punto del que empezaron a surgir muchas Fedras (ese es mi nombre, me presento), en diferentes direcciones. Aquella persona que hasta el momento había sido sólo una, un solo mapa dibujado con el tiempo y las experiencias, se empezó a multiplicar y es ella, o el conjunto de todas ellas, quien escribe ahora. Recuerdo mucho esa noche en particular, pero ahora que intento ponerlo en palabras, descubro que realmente la magia estuvo allí durante un tiempo más amplio, rodeando a la tan mencionada noche. ![En una playa del Pacífico colombiano, empezando mi vida con la guitarra](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/lafeedekalarka/BuYrqydA-104180462_575595443147921_3734089486431920875_n.jpg) Antes de esos tiempos, en cuanto veía la ocasión, por ejemplo, salía con la guitarra que había sido de mi hermano para oír a mis amigos guitarristas tocarla. Yo sentía que los músicos eran otros... Yo no. Para esos días yo ya había decidido aprender a tocarla, pero aún lo hacía bajo el velo de la timidez, entre otros velos. Esa noche, en la soledad de mi habitación, escudriñando mi pasado intentando encontrar explicaciones, había escrito la palabra "tímida" junto con otros sesenta adjetivos aproximadamente. Todas esas palabras hacían parte de una lista de comportamientos reiterativos en mí que definían mi personalidad, de un modo que no me gustaba. Esa gran noche los conjuré, o al menos allí empezó el conjuro (siento que sigo en ese proceso, diez años después). ![Apoyando el taller de malabares con material reciclado del MAR (Movimiento Ambiental Radical) en Kalarka](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/lafeedekalarka/kevKxkKA-104383044_713954082505965_8652746680253606503_n.jpg) Al terminar aquella lista de adjetivos y habiendo entendido que yo no era nada de eso, tomé la guitarra y, por primera vez, con dos de los cinco o seis acordes que hasta entonces sabía, empecé a cantar, a cantar- reír, a cantar- gritar, a desafinar con alegría. Sentía cómo mi algarabía llegaba a oídos de los vecinos... Que era lo que yo más temía de cantar allí. Sí, los vecinos escucharon. Sí, muy seguramente los vecinos reprobaron mi cantar, pero en ese momento no importaba porque precisamente estaba conjurando mi timidez, mi inseguridad, mi miedo al ridículo, al rechazo. Hasta ese momento, yo venía estructurando una vida unidimensional, por decirlo de alguna forma. Ya había terminado mis estudios universitarios en Lenguas Modernas y estaba intentando resolver cómo enrutar mi vida de acuerdo con esa carrera. Conocí parte de Colombia viajando con artesanía y malabares (había nacido recientemente la malabarista y la tejedora ya se estaba empoderando), también toqué guitarra en los buses y canté. Cuando me cansé de andar sin plata (o con muy poca) decidí ejercer mi profesión y durante cuatro años fuí la profesora de inglés de un colegio público rural, lejos de casa. Podría hablarles de mis experiencias como profesora, como música, tejedora, incluso barista (mala-barista), malabarista, ciclista, fisioterapeuta felina, hasta psiconauta... sí, de cómo la vida puede pasar de la uni- a la multi-dimensionalidad a través de los enteógenos y la reflexión sincera en alguna gran noche. ![Cuando hice mis primeros cursos de café (catación, tostión, trilla...) empezando por barismo. Hoy llego aquí con lo que hasta ahora soy, a compartir, sin saber aún cuál de todas las mujeres que me componen sea la que tome el lapicero. No me sorprende, ni mucho menos lo digo con tristeza. Before those times, as soon as I had the chance, for example, I would take the guitar that belonged to my brother out with me to listen to my guitarist friends play it. I felt that the musicians were others ... not me. In those days, I had already decided to learn to play it, but I still did it under the veil of shyness, among other veils. That night, in the solitude of my room, scanning my past trying to find explanations, I had written the word "shy" along with approximately sixty other adjectives. All those words were part of a list of repetitive behaviors I used to have, which defined my personality in a way that I did not like. I felt how my hubbub reached my neighbors' ears ... Which was what I feared the most of singing there. Yes, the neighbors heard. Yes, most likely the neighbors disapproved my singing, but at that moment it did not matter because I was precisely conjuring my shyness, my insecurity, my fear of ridicule, of rejection. Until then, I had been structuring a one-dimensional life, so to speak. I had already finished my university studies in Modern Languages and was trying to figure out how to route my life according to that career. I got to know part of Colombia traveling with arts and juggling (the juggler had recently been born and the weaver was empowering), I also played the guitar on buses and sang. When I got tired of having no money (or very little) I decided to practice my profession and during four years, I was the English teacher of a rural public school, far from home.
