Comenzaré mi presentación citando esta frase de hipócrates **primum non nocere** qué significa primero no hacer daño es la clave en mi vida. Soy Kareny Roca la octava de 12 hijos, vengo de una hermosa familia conformada por José Roca y Carmen Meneses quiénes son los mejores padres del mundo los que con su amor y ternura nos educaron de la mejor manera con fuertes lazos de hermandad. nací en Monagas Venezuela en el municipio piar del cual no tengo muchos recuerdos porque permanecí allí hasta los 4 años sólo recuerdo vagamente al viejito Donato y su esposa, vivían cerca de mi casa y me llevaban a comer cachapa con queso, mientras yo corría por toda su casa y jugaba con las hojas de maíz, esto me causa algo de gracia porque vine a preguntarle a mi mamá por estas personas hace unos años atrás y ella me confirmó que era cierto que ellos existían y eso sucedió, no le había preguntado hasta ahora porque llegue a pensar que era parte de mi imaginación, sin embargo han vivido en mi mente como un hermoso recuerdo de mi niñez.

**English** I will begin my presentation quoting this phrase of Hippocrates **primum non nocere** which means first do no harm is the key in my life. I am Kareny Roca the eighth of 12 children, I come from a beautiful family formed by José Roca and Carmen Meneses who are the best parents in the world who with their love and tenderness educated us in the best way with unbreakable bonds of brotherhood. I was born in Monagas Venezuela in the municipality of Piar of which I do not have many memories because I stayed there until I was 4 years old, I only vaguely remember the old man Donato and his wife, they lived near my house and took me to eat cachapa with cheese, while I ran around their house and played with the corn husks, this causes me some grace because I came to ask my mom about those people a few years ago and she confirmed that it was true that they existed and that happened. I had not asked her until now because I came to think that it was part of my imagination, however they have lived in my mind as a beautiful memory of my childhood.

nos mudamos a Maturín donde crecí estudié practique taekwondo, danzas, hice mi primera comunión y también hice lindas amistades. mi etapa más bonita fue la de secundaria, sin embargo vale acotar que también fue algo doloroso donde aprendí a tomar la decisión más grande de mi vida. en primer año o séptimo grado cómo le decimos acá, mientras practicaba deportes una compañerita tropezó conmigo y tuve fractura de cúbito y radio mi codo estaba lo suficientemente visible en ese momento sin poder levantarme con pérdida total de mis fuerzas le decía al profesor que por cierto estaba recién graduado y esa era su primera clase con nosotros. que me había fracturado el codo, el asustado y con poca experiencia no me presto mucha atención sólo me evalúo y dijo que me había lastimado, sólo era eso yo aún preocupada porque no quería que mi mamá sufriera más ya que estaba con mi hermana hospitalizada, tenía un tumor maxilar y la habían operado.

we moved to Maturin where i grew up, i studied taekwondo, dance, made my first communion and also made beautiful friendships. my most beautiful stage was in high school, however it is worth noting that it was also something painful where i learned to make the biggest decision of my life. in first grade or seventh grade as we say here, while practicing sports a classmate tripped over me and I fractured my ulna and radius my elbow was visible enough at that moment I could not get up with total loss of my strength I told the teacher who by the way was a recent graduate and that was his first class with us. He was scared and with little experience he did not pay much attention to me, he only evaluated me and said that I had hurt myself, that was all, I was still worried because I did not want my mother to suffer more since she was with my sister who was hospitalized, she had a maxillary tumor and she had been operated.

Acudí con unas amigas; karen y karla a el hospital central, sólo éramos tres niñas de aproximadamente once años de edad. Ahí viví la peor experiencia, no sólo por el maltrato recibido de parte de los médicos y las enfermeras, sino, también porque pase dos meses hospitalizada, me operaron y mi brazo quedó con dificultad para movilizarlo, luego de esto nadie, se hizo responsable de mí situación, nunca aparecieron los médicos que me habían intervenido, tuve que asistir por mucho tiempo a terapias, por esta razón les prometí a mi madre y a un medico que estaba de guardia ese día, que yo seria médico para demostrarles cómo debe ser el verdadero ejercicio de la medicina.

I went with some friends; Karen and Karla to the central hospital, we were only three girls of approximately eleven years old. There I lived the worst experience, not only because of the mistreatment received from the doctors and nurses, but also because I was hospitalized for two months, I was operated on and my arm was left with difficulty to move it, after this no one was responsible for my situation, the doctors who had operated on me never appeared, I had to attend therapy for a long time, for this reason I promised my mother and a doctor who was on duty that day, that I would be a doctor to show them how the real practice of medicine should be.

Al terminar mis estudios de bachillerato fui a la universidad y no dude en estudiar lo que más anhelaba, la carrera de medicina, con sus altos y bajos, con mucho esfuerzo, sacrificio y viendo como amigos y compañeros de estudio abandonaban la carrera. Terminé mis estudios a los 23 años y desde entonces llevo conmigo todos los días a mi trabajo mi amor al prójimo, humildad y sencillez y cada vez que me miro al espejo, antes de salir de casa, pienso si nos arreglamos el cabello todos los días, porque no nos arreglamos el alma también, evitar hacer daño o herir a los demás, debería ser siempre la consigna del medico, los pacientes confían sus vidas a nuestras manos y decisiones. Por eso debemos mantener siempre presente las sabias palabras de hipócrates ***primero no hacer daño***

When I finished my high school studies I went to college and I did not hesitate to study what I most desired, the career of medicine, with its ups and downs, with much effort, sacrifice and seeing how friends and fellow students dropped out of the race. I finished my studies at the age of 23 and since then I take with me every day to my work my love for my fellow man, humility and simplicity and every time I look in the mirror, before leaving home, I think if we fix our hair every day, why not fix our soul too, avoid hurting or hurting others, should always be the slogan of the doctor, patients entrust their lives to our hands and decisions. That is why we must always keep in mind the wise words of Hippocrates, ***first do no harm.***

Cuando sabemos que siempre vamos hacer un refugio de los necesitados debemos de hacerlo con nuestro corazón. Actualmente trabajo en la unidad de cuidados coronarios del hospital central de Maturín en donde prestó la mayor de mis colaboraciones y esfuerzo y qué bonito y gratificante es cuando mis pacientes me dicen gracias doctora gracias por su dedicación por su entrega gracias por salvar mi vida. esa frase no tiene precio, no hay salario en el mundo que pueda pagar la satisfacción y gozo de estar al servicio de quienes nos necesitan.

When we know that we are always going to make a shelter for the needy we must do it with our heart. Currently I work in the coronary care unit of the central hospital of Maturin where I gave the greatest of my collaboration and effort and how nice and rewarding it is when my patients tell me thank you doctor thank you for your dedication for your dedication thank you for saving my life. that phrase is priceless, there is no salary in the world that can pay the satisfaction and joy of being at the service of those who need us.

I am proud and happy to be the woman I am, of my beautiful home, of being surrounded by the people I love, and of my career as a doctor. this is how the story of my life ended. i hope you liked it.
