Muchas veces la gente asocia el paracaidismo como algo extremadamente peligroso, con algo en lo que te juegas la vida como en un volado cada vez que lo haces. Querido lector de Hive, permíteme explicarte por qué el paracaidismo moderno es tan seguro. > Often, people associate Skydiving as something extremely dangerous, something where you risk your life as if you were flipping a coin every time you do it. Dear Hive reader, let me explain why modern skydiving is so safe. ## **Entrenamiento “Training”** Hoy en día existen programas muy completos de entrenamiento que te preparan tanto con el conocimiento teórico, como con el entrenamiento de caída libre para poder realizar el deporte con la mayor seguridad posible. Dentro de estos programas hay algunas opciones: AFF (Accelerated Free Fall o Programa acelerado para caída libre): Consiste en tomar 6 a 8 horas de teoría y posteriormente hacer 7 niveles de curso. Si estos niveles se pasan satisfactoriamente en el primer intento, serian 7 saltos. En 1984 Roger Nelson creó el plan de estudios de certificación de paracaidismo más progresivo y completo en el mundo del paracaidismo. El AFP no escatima en detalles; en cambio, le da un valor agregado al material previo del AFF (18 niveles en lugar de los 7 u 8 que eran estándar). [Skydive Spaceland STP](https://houston.skydivespaceland.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/STP-brochure-web.pdf) (Skydiver Training Program o Programa de Entrenamiento del Paracaidista): Este programa esta enfocado a impartir un entrenamiento detallado que nos ayuda a obtener la primera licencia de paracaidista, la licencia A que se obtiene al cumplir con 25 saltos totales ademas de otros requisitos de maniobras aereas y demostrar el empacado de el paracaidas. Al igual que en el AFP, lo anterior se logra de manera más eficaz que en el programa de AFF, ya que se está en constante supervisión de los instructores por un mayor número de saltos. Los primeros dos saltos en este programa, son en Tándem (instructor y el estudiante en el mismo equipo y con el mismo paracaídas). El estudiante tiene ejercicios específicos en cada salto y tiene también la responsabilidad de abrir el paracaídas a la altura apropiada. > Nowadays there are very complete training programs that prepare you with both, theoretical knowledge and free fall training. With this, you will be able to perform the sport as safely as possible. As in the AFP, this is achieved in a more efficient way than in the AFF program, since you are in constant supervision of the instructors for a greater number of jumps. The first two jumps in this program are Tandem training jumps. (instructor and student sharing the same gear and the same parachute). The student has specific exercises on each jump and is also responsible for opening the parachute at the appropriate altitude. ## **Equipo “Gear”** Los equipos moderno, cuentan con un paracaidas principal, que el que se usa normalmente. Pero también cuentan con uno de uno de reserva (paracaídas de emergencia). El reserva se utiliza muy poco, de hecho en 4200+ saltos, lo he tenido que utilizar solo cinco veces. Aquí la primera vez que lo utilicé: > Modern gear is equipped with a main parachute, which is the one normally used. But they also have a reserve parachute (emergency parachute). ## **Dispositivo de Activación Automática “Automatic Activation Device”(AAD)** En caso de que nadie abriera el paracaídas manualmente, contamos con una computadora extremadamente precisa la cual, permitirá la apertura del paracaídas de reserva de manera completamente automática y a la altura preestablecida para el tipo de salto Aquí un video del mecanismo en acción. # **Mi Historia “My Story** En 2007 mientras me encontraba trabajando en DAT (Doblaje Audio y Traduccion), un estudio de doblaje como Ing. de grabacion. La empresa organizó un curso de motivación y de ventas. En este curso aprendí la importancia de la visualización, de la Programación Neuro-Lingüística y sobre aprendí, la importancia de ir en busca de nuestros sueños siempre. Uno de los ejercicios del el curso, fue hacer algo fuera de lo ordinario. Fue la oportunidad que había estado esperando, fue el pretexto perfecto para ir a saltar en paracaidas por primera vez. En lo único en lo que podía pensar, era en encontrar la manera de hacer el curso AFF. Recuerdo que la persona que nos recibió por parte del club de paracaidismo, además de ser muy atenta, nos platicó que el negocio estaba en el proceso de seguir creciendo y que estaba por cambiarse a sus nuevas instalaciones. Justo en ese instante me vizualicé convirtiendome en parte del equipo como camarógrafo de paracaisismo. Con mi meta muy clara, empecé a entrenar y a trabajar arduamente para algún día lograr mi sueño de ser paracaidista profesional. # **Instructor Tandem “Tandem Instructor”** Un paracaidista puede llegar a ser candidato para convertirse en Instructor Tandem después de reunir los siguientes requisitos: 3 años en el deporte, 500 saltos y licencia D. Lo anterior es solo el mínimo necesario para tener derecho a hacer el entrenamiento. En mi caso decidí esperarme a tener al menos 1000 saltos para llegar con aún mas experiencia al curso, además en esa etapa de mi vida también me encontraba cursando la carrera de Piloto Privado. Pero eso será tema para una futura publicación. > A skydiver can become a Tandem Instructor candidate, only after meeting the following requirements: 3 years in the sport, 500 jumps and a D license. The above is only the bare minimum necessary experience to be eligible for training. >In my case, I decided to wait until I had at least 1000 jumps before training. That way I would show up for training with even more experience. By the way, at that stage of my life I was also training to become a Private Pilot. En este proyecto me tocó participar como coordinador de medios, como director de fotografía de caída libre y como camarógrafo.
