Hello Hive! This is my first post for the Worldmappin community, a space that has been recommended to me for months, and which I think I'll really enjoy, because just organizing and selecting the best photos from my travels has already brought me so much joy. A week ago I wrote about getting back into singing, and now I want to share some of the beautiful places I've visited thanks to music. Today I'll talk about the first place I set foot on outside my country, which happened to be the place I'd always dreamed of visiting: Paris, France. It was a huge coincidence, because my destination was Milan, Italy. >¡Hola Hive! Este es mi primer post para la comunidad Worldmappin, un espacio que me han estado recomendando por meses, y que creo que disfrutaré mucho, porque solo el hecho de organizar y seleccionar las mejores fotos de mis viajes ya me ha dado mucha alegría. Hace una semana escribí precisamente sobre volver a cantar, y ahora quiero compartir un poco de los hermosos lugares que he conocido gracias a la música. It was 2015, and I had only been a member of a major choral group in my country for a few months. They had just performed in New York, England, and Salzburg before I joined. My first trip with the choir coincided with what I love most in the world: opera. We were headed to none other than La Scala in Milan, and it was the first time the choir had performed an opera, since we aren't an opera choir per se, but rather a very versatile group. To my surprise, the flight had a full-day layover in Paris, so my friends made me buy a Sony camera. We postponed our rest and went out to see as much of the city as we could, and of course, our first destination was the Eiffel Tower. >Ese año y ese viaje fue muy especial para mí. Era 2015, y solo tenía unos meses de haber ingresado a una importante agrupación coral en mi país que se acababa de presentar en New York, Inglaterra y Salzburgo antes de que yo fuera parte de la misma. Mi primer viaje con la coral coincidió con lo que más amo en el mundo, la ópera. Nos dirigíamos nada y nada menos que al Teatro de La Scala en Milán y era la primera vez que la coral interpretaba una ópera, ya que no somos un coro de ópera como tal, pero sí una agrupación muy versátil. A little closer, I let myself be captivated by the Seine River and the famous love lock bridge, until in the distance the tower began to appear, and so did my tears of emotion. >Con la intensión de llegar hasta la torre en un país donde no hablábamos el idioma, aunque nos podíamos defender con un poco de inglés, lo primero que vi a lo lejos fue la Catedral de Notre Dame, lugar donde lamentablemente no pude entrar, pero que no supe entonces que un año después tendría la dicha de ser uno de nuestros escenarios en una futura gira que sí sería en Francia. I always thought it was just an ordinary place in the world, albeit a famous one, but no, the energy of the people and the city itself have transformed it into a magical place, a global icon. And being there, far from my country, my family, with people who were practically new to me, having just turned 18 and with professional musical plans, was something I can't even put into words. It was a truly indescribable happiness, so overwhelming was it. And the best part, looking back, is that it was only the beginning of a dream, a dream I continue to build and work on every day. >La Torre Eiffel fue perfecta de lejos, de cerca, de día, de noche, no hay manera de no disfrutarla. This time, we were happy just to see it from the outside, and going inside would have meant missing out on visiting other parts of the city. I was also dying to go to the Louvre Museum and see the Mona Lisa, but the lines were incredibly long, and we couldn't start spending our budget. The camera was already expensive, and we still had more than a month of our trip ahead of us, as it was the longest tour my choir had ever undertaken. Our next stop was the Cour Napoléon, which was relatively close, but for tourists who don't speak the language, everything becomes more complicated. Even so, we made it, and it was another wonderful moment on what would be my only day in Paris up to that point. >Al igual que les conté arriba, sería un año después, cuando volví a Paris que pude subir a la torre. En esta ocasión estábamos felices por verla desde afuera, y haber entrado habría sido perder oportunidad de visitar otras zonas de la ciudad. También me moría de ganas de ir al Museo del Louvre y ver la Mona Lisa, pero las colas eran muy largas y no podíamos comenzar a gastar nuestro presupuesto, ya la cámara era mucho y aún nos quedaba más de un mes de viaje, ya que ha sido la gira más extensa que tuvo mi agrupación coral. Nuestra siguiente parada era el Cour Napoléon, que estaba relativamente cerca, pero para turistas que no hablan el idioma todo se pone más complejo. I remember going out to explore the city in sandals, and they wore out; it was the first and only time I'd ever walked around an unfamiliar city in that kind of footwear. All my other trips have been in sneakers. I really enjoyed the walk to the Louvre Museum, as everything in Paris is so beautiful: the architecture, the river, the greenery, and all those historical and even famous places that until then I'd only seen in movies and magazines. To save time and avoid getting too tired, we ventured out on the metro. It was a bit chaotic, but it allowed us to see more of the sights. >Estábamos en verano, y desde el primer día descubrí que esa temporada en Europa puede llegar a ser más calurosa que mi propio país, donde hace calor todo el año. Recuerdo que me fui a recorrer la ciudad en sandalias y se desgastaron; fue la primera y única vez que recorrí una ciudad desconocida con ese calzado, el resto de mis viajes ha sido con zapatos deportivos. Disfruté mucho el camino hasta el Museo del Louvre, ya que todo en Paris es muy hermoso, la arquitectura, el río, la vegetación y todos esos lugares históricos y hasta famosos que hasta ese día solo había apreciado en películas y revistas. Para cortar un poco el tiempo y no cansarnos de más nos atrevimos a viajar en el metro. It surprised me at the time, and over time I've seen that he's a figure generally recognized in many parts of the world, which I found gratifying. Finally, we arrived at Cour Napoléon, a place that captivated me with its beauty and significance and that attracts as many tourists as the Eiffel Tower itself. At that time, I didn't know that my destiny was to return to this city, so I enjoyed my day in Paris as if it were my only one. Thank you for reading.. >Camino al Museo nos encontramos con una estatua en homenaje a Simón Bolívar, fue algo que me sorprendió en su momento, y con el tiempo he visto que es una figura que generalmente se reconoce en varios lugares del mundo, lo cual me pareció agradable. Finalmente llegamos a Cour Napoléon, un lugar que me cautivó por su belleza e importancia y que atrae a tantos turistas como la misma Torre Eiffel. En ese entonces no sabía que en mi destino estaba volver a esta ciudad, así que disfruté mi día en Paris como si fuera el único.
