Creo todos nosotros en algún momento de nuestra vida hemos leído alguna novela o hemos visto algún drama en televisión (¡Incluso en Netflix!), ¿Cierto? Hemos llegado a una época donde las novelas visuales han tomado un puesto muy importante dentro de los videojuegos, existiendo cientos de estos títulos buscando proponer una nueva forma de exponer historias a través del nuevo arte de nuestra época: los videojuegos. >¡Hi friends! I think all of us at some moment in our lives have read a novel book or seen a drama in television (even of Netflix!) Right? > >We have reached a time where visual noveles have taken a important position in the world of videogames, existing a houndred of these titles, searching new ways of exposing stories throught the new art of our time: videogames. Pero si investigamos sobre todas las novelas visuales existentes en el mercado, nos encontramos con la sorpresa que la mayoría de estas son copias y más copias de títulos genéricos que inundan el mercado. >But if we investigate about all these visual novels that exist in the market, we can found the surprise that the majority of these titles are copies and more copies of generic titles that flood the market. En este momento es donde nos preguntamos, ¿Donde ha quedado la originalidad de los desarrolladores de videojuegos? Pareciera que el catalogo de estas novelas visuales solo son copias sin ofrecer nada nuevo, nada interesante y mucho menos, ***original.*** >In this moment we ask ourselves, where has it been the originality of the developers of videogames? Pero ustedes se preguntaran, ¿Qué tiene de interesante este titulo? Para ello, nos debemos adentrar en el contexto del videojuego **(Nota: ¡Spoilers fuertes sobre la historia del juego a continuación!)** >Published on September 22, 2017, took a stir after becoming popular inside the gaming community, winning a lot of players and creating a community that today, stills having a lot of members. >But you can ask, what is interesting in this game? También en nuestro menú podemos observar a las chicas que protagonizaran esta historia junto a nosotros. >We started like any other visual novel, we can see a very cute menu for the game and some options for us like new game, load game, settings and another ones. En este punto, podemos comenzar la historia como cualquier otra. Nosotros, los jugadores, tomamos la piel de un chico de secundaria, el cual se une al club de literatura de su instituto por petición de nuestra querida amiga de la infancia y vicepresidenta del club, Sayori. Al llegar al club, conocemos a tres chicas más: Monika, la presidenta del club de literatura, Yuri, una tímida chica apasionada por la literatura y los libros de terror y la más pequeña de todas, Natsuki, una tierna chica bastante conflictiva pero en el fondo muy amigable, amante del manga. >This seems pretty normal for now, right? At this point, we can start the history like any other. Us, the players, take the skin of a male highschool student, wich joins the literature club of his highschool at the request for our childhood friend and vice president of the club, Sayori. >At the moment we arrive the club, we meet another three girls: Monika, the president of the literature club, Yuri, a very shy girl with a big passion for the literature and horror books and the youngest of all, Natsuki, a cute girl, very conflictive but deep down, very kind. ![DDLCGirls](https://images.hive.blog/DQmeDFGXYr1F7JBz8uZjBLX81LNqjbftPvJnrWZqq7hpSs9/image_2022-06-22_10-52-28.png) *From left to right, Monika, Natsuki and Yuri* Durante el primer acto de nuestra partida, conocemos a las tres chicas con sus gustos y cualidades, dándonos oportunidad de elegir cual de todas las chicas nos gusta o nos llama más la atención. Durante nuestro recorrido, como parte del club, se nos permite escribir poemas con palabras que podemos elegir. También, aparte de escribir los poemas, podemos elegir a quien enseñárselo y de esta manera intentar conquistar a la chica que más nos guste. >During the first act of our game, we meet the three girls with all their tastes and qualities, giving us the chance to choose wich of them we like the most. > > During our journey as a member of the club, we can write poems with words that we can choose. Aquí, nos están llevando a centrarnos en alguna de las chicas, para ello, le mostramos nuestro poema y también leemos los de ellas. Es interesante deternos y leer los poemas de cada una de las chicas, estos denotan mucho sobre las diferentes personalidades de las chicas. >At this point, throughout the first act, we will give ourselves the time to meet all the girls. Here, the game is taking us to center out attention in someone of the girls, for that, we can show our poems to that girl and read her poem. Is interesting to read the poems of all the girls, they can show a lot about the personalities of all the girls. Todo resulta normal durante las primeras horas de juego... hasta que llegamos al final del primer acto. Durante la hora final del primer acto, Sayori nos confiesa que sufre de depresión y que por esa razón quiere que seamos amigo de todas las chicas del club, ya que eso la ayuda a sentirse mejor pero que al mismo tiempo, la lastima. Sayori nos confiesa su amor un poco más adelante y tenemos el poder de decidir si queremos aceptar (o no) esa confesión. Aquí comienza a tornarse interesante la situación, ya que nos enfrentamos ante una chica con problemas de depresión que de una manera repentina también nos confiesa su amor. Sabiendo que nuestras decisiones importan en el flujo de la historia, nos enfrentamos a una difícil decisión. >All seems normal during the first few hours of the game... until we reach the end of the first act. During the final hour of the first act, Sayori confesses to us that she have depression and for that reason, she wants us to be friends of all the girls in the club, because that helps her to get better but at the same time, that hurts her. Sayori no llega, se te hace un poco extraño pero crees que simplemente se quedo dormida. Tomas el folleto con los poemas y ves el poema de Sayori, distinto al que habías visto antes. >The day of the festival finally came, the day where the girls have planned to show poems as a part of celebration. Sayori does not arrive to the school, it seems a little bit strange but you ignored it and you thought that she just fell asleep. Pues sí, en este momento de la novela, todos estaríamos en completa tensión y es la intención del creador de esta novela visual, Dan Salvato. Dentro de la historia, nuestro personaje va a la casa de Sayori para despertarla, sin recibir respuesta alguna, por lo cual entra a su habitación sin permiso, encontrándose con el terrible hecho de que **Sayori se ha suicidado.** >¿Weird? Yes, in this moment of the history, we'll be with tension and that's the intencion of the creator of this visual novel, Dan Salvato. Luego de una pantalla negra que dice "END", nos encontramos con el juego reiniciándose y devolviendonos a la pantalla de inicio, ¿Ya completamos el juego? Realmente no. Podemos notar que en el momento que regresamos al menú de inicio, nos encontramos que Sayori ya no existe, en su lugar, un sprite dañado y más bugs en el mundo, tal como si hubiese desaparecido del juego. >Here is where the things get really weird. After a black screen with the text "END" in the middle, we found the game getting reset and getting us back to the menu screen. You can ask, we finish the game? Well, really no. > >We can realize in the moment we get in the menu screen that Sayori doesn't exist, remplacing her by a corrupt script and a lot of bugs in the game, like as if she had disappeared. ![Act2Menu](https://images.hive.blog/DQmUJ4PquPf2vt5n3D7QPZ3pNMjP7yupKyG43F3LYAPcMfV/image_2022-06-22_11-21-28.png%29) Y aquí es donde luego de comenzar el juego presionando el botón de nuevo juego (que ahora es un montón de caracteres sin sentido) comenzamos nuestra historia, exactamente igual como lo habíamos hecho antes, solo que en este caso, no existe Sayori y la historia transcurre sin ella. La banda sonora comienza a distorsionarse, los sprites se rompen cada cierto tiempo y el juego toma una aura completamente de un juego de terror, un cambio de 180 grados a lo que esperamos al momento de empezar a jugar este juego. Y aquí viene lo interesante, Doki Doki Literature Club no es una novela visual común, realmente es una novela visual categorizada como terror psicológico, solo que la mayoría no tenemos pistas sobre ello, excepto por la sospechosa advertencia que nos dan al principio del juego, pero, ¿A quién le importa? Queremos ver chicas lindas, ahí es donde todos nos equivocamos. >In this moment, after pressing the button of new game (that right now is a lot of weird characters without any sense) we start again the history like the first moment we start the game for the first time, but right now, the history continue without Sayori in it. > >The music of the game starts to distort, the sprites of the game getting corrupt a lot of times and the game gets a feeling complety different from the first momento you started to play. >And that's here where the interesting things came, Doki Doki Literature Club is not a normal visual novel, in the reality, is a visual novel in the category of psychological horror, the only hint we had wen we start the game is a warning sign of disturbing content, but, who cares? Realmente son muchísimos detalles y sería difícil incluirlos todos aquí, pero podemos resumir que una de las chicas se dedica a romper la cuarta pared ya que esta enamorada de nosotros y no, no del personaje que nosotros controlamos como jugadores, si no de nosotros mismos, nosotros como seres humanos reales. >I don't want to get in so much details of the things that happens in the second act of the game and I'll repeat the same thing I said in the top of this post, if you want to live this experience, play the game before reading the remaining of this post. >We'll get inside the meaning of all of this, What meaning this history have? It's really dificult to say all the details in only this post, but we can resume that one of the girls continually is dedicated to broke the 4th wall because she fell in love with us and not the character we control as a player, but with ourselves as a human beings. ![Act2](https://images.hive.blog/DQmPQvBqMvSmztsZAjfnZFN6S9LTWFJC3aFp6bKcfd852W1/image_2022-06-22_11-22-06.png) Durante todo el acto 2, podemos comenzar a sospechar de quien es la causante de todo esto... ¡pero antes de revelarlo les daré oportunidad de que lo adivinen con unas pistas más si aún lo saben! Las actitudes de todas las chicas se comienza a exagerar al punto de parecer desagradables al ojo del jugador, en esto acompañados de Monika, quien nos dice cada tanto tiempo que es normal en ellas comportarse así y dándonos la sensación de que Monika es la única chica normal. También en este punto del juego, comenzamos a desbloquear poemas secretos que pueden llegar a ser pertubadores o si no, nos darán información importante para comprender la situación y significado de toda la locura de este juego. >During all the second act of the game, we can start to suspect about who is the one that make all the messed up things at this point of the game, but before, i'll give you more information and then i'll tell you about the one who is messing up the game. >The personalities of all the girls started to get messed up at the point that they change into unpleasant to the eye of the player, this with Monika who seems like the only one normal in the game. >Also at this point of the game, we started to unlock secret poems that can be disturbing or they can give to us important information to understand the situation and meaning of all this crazy game. ![SecretPoem](https://images.hive.blog/DQmQYcd8muKrFHHxqwTBdZMCozaRRHNvXy1vQMD6hEcFJdZ/image_2022-06-22_11-43-38.png) Llegamos a un punto del juego donde Yuri y Natsuki son borradas del juego (Sí, hasta sus archivos dentro de la carpeta donde se instaló el juego son borrados) y nos dan puerta a la culpable de todo: Monika. Nos encontramos en una habitación a solas con Monika, quien nos confiesa que ella fue la que borró a todas las chicas (Y sí, la que causó el suicidio de Sayori), todo para darse paso abierto a estar a solas con nosotros. Una chica al estilo puro yandere, quien fue capaz de romper el juego solo para quedarse con nosotros, dándonos a entender que todo el tiempo desde que abrimos el juego, era consciente de que ella está dentro del juego y modificó el juego a conveniencia, para estar con nosotros. Una aventura muy loca que rompe la cuarta pared de una forma muy original, con una historia con un plot twist bastante original, es una experiencia que los jugadores deberían jugar al menos una vez en su vida. Este juego busca jugar con nuestra mente y lo consigue de una manera muy acertada. >We reach the point of the game where Yuri and Natsuki are deleted from the game (And yes, their files in the game folder are deleted too) and show us the one who made it all: Monika. >A girl with the yandere style who was able to destroy all the game only for stay alone with us, the real player, giving us the real meaning of everything: all the whole since we start the game for the first time, Monika was conscious about she is trapped in a game, so she modified the game for her convenience, only for stay with us. >A crazy adventure that breaks the 4th wall on a original way, with a history with a good plot twist, it's a experience that I think all the gamers need to live at least one time in them lives.
