I decided to read all 7 military classics of Ancient China. Sun Tzu was good and I have read multiple versions before. The series Three Kingdoms (2010) inspired me to learn a lot more about strategies.

Dr. Sawyers collection with historian's notes is great and King Zhou is mentioned in the first section about The Six Secret Teachings which is written from a revolutionary perspective as it is meant to Zhou kings overthrow Shang who burdened the people more and more.

Pokračuji ve čtení 7 vojenských klasik starověké Číny. První v klasika v knize, 6 Tajných učení, byla písemně zaznamenána snad až o několik staletí po jejím údajném vzniku. O tom svědčí existence a popis jezdeckých taktik, které museli být přidány jako dodatek, neboť při svrhávání dynastie Shang Číňani používali pouze bojové vozy, ne jezdce...

Stále rozhazovačnější vláda Shang si říkala o převrat a kniha byla jakýmsi návodem k tomuto převratu.

King Zhou as well as his predecessors repeatedly conscripted people during harvest seasons (the worst time). That decreased yields of the fields and created discontent. What was so pressing that they were supposed to work on?

King allegedly built himself a lake with wine instead of water. He would hang pieces of meat in the forest and watch young man & women chase each other there. Palaces too...

V období sklizně mají vesničasné spoustu práce. Moudrý vladař by je neodváděl k nuceným pracím, aby se úroda nezkazila. Jenže projekty krále Zhou(a) byly extrémně důležité.

Například musel udržovat své vínové jezero. Vytvořil les zavěšeného masa a pozoroval mladé, jak se v něm nahání. Paláce...

King Zhou also collected dogs, birds, and horses for his chariot (Chinese won't know to ride horses for many centuries) and unusual objects such as unicorn horns. Of course, all of that required heavy taxation. Ironically, he held his to-be-detrohner, King Wu, in prison but released him upon receiving gifts. King Wu's key military and civil advisor Lü Shang (Jiang Ziya) also originally came from King Zhou's court. He was permitted to leave the court at the age of 74 when he feigned madness, but in reality, he could not stand random executions and all the problems anymore.

Král Zhou udržoval bohatou sbírku psů, exotických ptáků, koní (jezdectví ještě v Číně nebylo, mohli však táhnout jeho vůz) a "neobvyklých předmětů", jak jsou například rohy jednorožců, pírko fénixe, zrcadlo, které vidí do budoucnosti a nefritový disk plnící přání. Pochopitelně musel udržovat vysoké daně a náhodně popravoval i nejvyšší úředníky. Ironicky věznil i svého budoucího sesaditele, ale nechal ho jít na svobodu, když dostal bohaté dary od rodiny a přátel vybrané s pomocí Lü Shanga (Jiang Ziya). I Lu Shang byl Zhouův poradce, ale krále opustil pod záminkou šílenství.

Shang dynasty became corrupt and unebarable and King Zhou was overthrown. After losing the battle, King Zhou was chased down and beheaded. As bizzare as it sounds, this is how Zhou dynasty begins. The name comes from the system of dynastic cycles that was prevalent in Chinese political thought. It is not related to overthrown King Zhou of Shang dynasty at all.	Zhou byl nakonec poražen a zabit. Po prohrané bitvě se vydal na útek, ale jednotky krále Wu ho dohnali a dekapitovali. Zvláštní je, že následující dynastie se jmenuje Zhou. Nejedná se však o honoraci sesazeného krále, nýbrž o nějaké systém dynastických cyklů.
