# Opinión de cine: Lost in translation / Perdidos en Tokio. ---

Hola a todos queridos lectores y amantes del cine espero que se encuentren muy bien, este es mi primer post dentro de esta comunidad y la verdad me entusiasma bastante, desde el primer momento me llamo la atención publicar aquí ya que soy gran aficionada al cine y la cultura pop. Existen muchísimas películas que han tenido gran impacto en mi vida y que quisiera compartir por este medio con ustedes, aparte de debatir con otros amantes del séptimo arte. --- > Hello to all dear readers and movie lovers, I hope you are very well, this is my first post in this community and the truth is that I am very excited, from the first moment I called my attention to publish here since I am a big fan of cinema and pop culture. Ya hace algunos años desde que descubrí está cinta por mera casualidad, había investigado un poco sobre ella en internet cuando apenas ni sabía de su existencia salvó por algunas cuantas imágenes que veía en redes sociales o videos de Youtube y sentía que era una de esas películas con tinte alternativo medio hipster, pero nada que ver. La catalogan como una película de comedia romántica pero a mí parecer sería más bien una película de romance poco convencional y de carácter reflexivo algo así como un romance melancólico, ya que no son muchas las escenas de comedia, las pocas que hay solo son un puente para que los dos protagonistas interactúen. > This time I come to talk about one of my favorite films and one of the most significant of the beginning of the new millennium, Lost in translation. It's been a few years since I discovered this film by mere chance, I had done some research about it on the internet when I barely knew of its existence except for a few images I saw on social networks or Youtube videos and I felt it was one of those movies with an alternative hipster tinge, but nothing to do with it. It is labeled as a romantic comedy film but in my opinion it would be more of an unconventional and reflective romance film, something like a melancholic romance, since there are not many comedy scenes, the few that there are are only a bridge for the two protagonists to interact. ## Trama / Plot --- Lost in translation se estrenó en el año 2003 y fue dirigida por Sofía Coppola una de mis directoras preferidas, protagonizada por Bill Murphy y Scarlett Johansson, también tuvo nominaciones al premio Oscar > Lost in translation was released in 2003 and was directed by Sofia Coppola one of my favorite directors, starring Bill Murphy and Scarlett Johansson, also had Oscar nominations. Dentro de la película se nos presentan a dos protagonistas, Bob un actor famoso el cual viaja a tokio para hacer una campaña de publicidad sobre whisky y Charlotte una joven que acaba de terminar la carrera de filosofía, casada con un fotógrafo famoso al cual acompaña hasta Tokio por asuntos de trabajo, ambos terminan coincidiendo porque hospedan en el mismo hotel. > In the film we are introduced to two protagonists, Bob a famous actor who travels to Tokyo to do an advertising campaign on whiskey and Charlotte a young woman who has just finished a degree in philosophy, married to a famous photographer who accompanies him to Tokyo for work, both end up coinciding because they stay in the same hotel. ![movie-lost-in-translation-wallpaper-preview.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmTmjysFCvAhBozeX2FbAW2xejMdJeLqNhM3CKfdMrmEBX/movie-lost-in-translation-wallpaper-preview.jpg) [Fuente/source](https://www.wallpaperflare.com/search?wallpaper=Lost+in+Translation) ## Opinión / Opinion --- Considero que Lost in translation más que una película es un viaje a un lugar incómodo, desconocido y diferente dónde dos personas solitarias se encuentran en un país que no conocen que los hace sentir perdidos, no solo por no entender la cultura ni el idioma de el país en el que se encuentran sino también porque ambos a pesar de estar rodeados de gente se sienten en soledad, la historia se basa mayormente en dos personas que pasan por una situación similar logran coincidir apoyándose mutuamente en su duelo y tienen un amor que nace de la comprensión. Cómo mencioné desde un principio este film nos presenta un romance pero de forma poco convencional. > I consider Lost in translation more than a film is a trip to an uncomfortable, unknown and different place where two lonely people find themselves in a country they do not know that makes them feel lost, not only because they do not understand the culture or the language of the country where they are but also because both, despite being surrounded by people, feel lonely, the story is based mostly on two people who go through a similar situation manage to coincide supporting each other in their grief and have a love that is born of understanding. As I mentioned from the beginning, this film presents us with a romance but in an unconventional way. Les advierto que está no es una de esas películas que uno ve para simplemente distraerse, reír y pensar en algo distinto sino que en cada momento nos insta a reflexionar sobre nosotros mismo, siento que toca mucho el tema de las crisis existenciales, hace un excelente trabajo en transmitirnos esa atmósfera de soledad por la que pasan los personajes. > I warn you that this is not one of those movies that one sees to simply distract oneself, laugh and think about something different, but at every moment it urges us to reflect on ourselves, I feel that it touches a lot on the theme of existential crises, it does an excellent job in transmitting that atmosphere of loneliness through which the characters go through. ![MCDLOIN_EC017_H-1024x744.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmY1ZVfg6qwM2jpq4oo88sjbSzcmhD5eoPqmstMDDjLsRS/MCDLOIN_EC017_H-1024x744.jpg) [Fuente/source](https://smoda.elpais.com/placeres/lost-in-translation-15-anos-de-culto-al-final-que-nadie-descifra/) Algo que quizás no me agrade tanto a veces es que hay demasiadas escenas donde predomina el silencio, pero entiendo que tiene la finalidad de transmitirle al espectador la contemplación que hace alguno de los personajes a su alrededor, y también enfocar nuestra atención al lenguaje corporal y las miradas de complicidad que se lanzan los dos personajes principales cuando están juntos , ahí la película nos quiere hacer entender que la conexión entre ambos es tan fuerte que no necesitan decir ni una sola palabra para entenderse el uno con el otro. Y también enfocar nuestra atención a como Bob y Charlotte pasan de tener una simple relación de amistad y complicidad a tener algo más cercano a una relación amorosa una especie de romance. > Something that may not please me so much at times is that there are too many scenes where silence predominates, but I understand that it is intended to convey to the viewer the contemplation that some of the characters do around them, and also to focus our attention to the body language and looks of complicity that the two main characters throw to each other when they are together, there the film wants us to understand that the connection between them is so strong that they do not need to say a single word to understand each other. And also to focus our attention on how Bob and Charlotte go from having a simple relationship of friendship and complicity to having something closer to a loving relationship, a kind of romance. La diferencia de edad que existe entre ambos personajes para mí no es ningún inconveniente y siento que es algo que trata de darnos un contraste entre los dos, ambos tienen una crisis de edad tanto Bob por entrar en la vejez y sentir que ya pasaron sus tiempos de gloria, cómo Charlotte que recién está en sus 20's e intenta encontrar su lugar en el mundo, la diferencia de edad en el este caso no importa ya que ambos están pasando por un mismo duelo, se sienten perdidos eso es justo lo que logra unirlos y crear esa conexión especial entre ambos a pesar de sus diferencias. > The age difference between the two characters is not a problem for me and I feel it is something that tries to give us a contrast between the two, both have an age crisis, both Bob for entering old age and feeling that his glory days are over, and Charlotte who is just in her 20's and trying to find her place in the world, the age difference in this case does not matter because both are going through the same grief, they feel lost, that is just what brings them together and creates that special connection between the two despite their differences. ![movie-lost-in-translation-bill-murray-scarlett-johansson-wallpaper-preview.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmb3jD2oawYfu1QY2nFaYeiwtDdYZwKiVCytLp2yQ9wZVq/movie-lost-in-translation-bill-murray-scarlett-johansson-wallpaper-preview.jpg) [Fuente/source](https://www.wallpaperflare.com/search?wallpaper=Lost+in+Translation) Me agrada que la locación que hayan elegido para rodar la película sea Japón, ya que a pesar de que Tokio es una ciudad donde predomina la tecnología y los colores luminosos, lleno de personas y edificios brillantes alrededor la fotografía de la pelicula nos muestra una imagen más apagada de la ciudad, con tonalidades pastel y haciendo énfasis en el color azul el cual representa la melancolía. Utilizar esa paleta de colores opacos nos quiere hacer ver y entender el mundo igual que los protagonistas de la cinta, a pesar de estar en un sitio lleno de color todo se ve y se siente apagado. > I like that the location chosen to shoot the film is Japan, because although Tokyo is a city where technology and bright colors predominate, full of people and bright buildings around the film photography shows us a more muted image of the city, with pastel shades and emphasizing the color blue which represents melancholy. Using this opaque color palette wants to make us see and understand the world just like the protagonists of the film, despite being in a place full of color everything looks and feels dull. Otro de los recursos que también me parecen súper bien utilizados dentro de la película es la música, tiene un soundtrack bastante curiosos que pasa de ser conmovedor en algunos momentos y luego de repente tiene canciones más enérgicas y alegres. Sin duda la fotografía y el soundtrack es lo que más te atrapa de esta película. > Another of the resources that I also find super well used in the film is the music, it has a very curious soundtrack that goes from being touching in some moments and then suddenly has more energetic and cheerful songs. Ya la he visto más de 3 veces y puedo asegurar que no me canso de verla, a pesar de ser algo dramática en ocasiones también tiene sus momentos simpáticos y de risas así que no es de esas pelis que te tiran el ánimo abajo y te ponen a llorar simplemente cae en ser un poco auto reflexiva, la fotografía también a pesar de ser apagada y con tonos pastel lo hace con la intensión de meternos en la piel y la percepción del mundo que tienen los personajes aunque sin embargo a veces muestra algunos colores vibrantes y más vivos en escenas divertidas como la del karaoke. > Friends I highly recommend this movie, I feel it is a breath of fresh air among the thousands of cliché romantic movies that exist, it is different and shows us a different point of view of personal relationships along with the rawness of loneliness. I have already seen it more than 3 times and I can assure you that I never get tired of watching it, despite being somewhat dramatic at times it also has its funny moments and laughs so it is not one of those movies that bring you down and make you cry, it just falls into being a little self reflective, the photography also despite being muted and with pastel shades does it with the intention of getting under the skin and the perception of the world that the characters have, however sometimes it shows some vibrant and more vivid colors in fun scenes like the karaoke. Mi opinión es meramente subjetiva y cada quien tendrá su propia opinión con respecto a esta obra así que los invito a que la vean se encuentra disponible actualmente en Netflix 👀. > My opinion is purely subjective and everyone will have their own opinion regarding this work so I invite you to watch it is currently available on Netflix 👀.
