There's a game called Story Cubes. Players throw dices with pictures and try to tell a cohesive narative one after another. This post came from me and a couple friends playing it once and then me writing down the story we came up with by the end of it. The way we play it, each player has a chance to put a different ending to the story. Do enjoy, it's trippy.

Le Na Yan

Paper plane was soaring through the streets, bright, shiny, positive, a bit Pixar-ish. It was a nice day. Birds sang, cats meowed, cuteness overflowed the city and there was nothing that could possibly go wrong on a day like this, no way.

Ash

Meanwhile on a different reality level far away in the vast dark hole Universe is enormous Judgement Scales shifted. There was no more plane, no more street, no more life. Hell came burning with dread, lava and primal urge for destruction and chaos.

Featalion

A sheep was walking on the lava, flowers and grass flourishing in its footsteps. It seemed like it waged a war on Hell surrounding it by building a safe usual world wonder by wonder. It looked hopeless. White fur was catching fire from sparks and lava splatter. The fur smelled.

Le Na Yan

A moment later sheep got smashed by an incoming asteroid. Blood, gore, juicy sheep parts flying in slomo. Crater and a huge cloud of dust at the point of impact. Hell was fighting back.

Ash

Random tornado cleared the air a bit. Where there was a sheep wreckage, turtle hang few feet above the ground. It took a second to figure out what the hell was it. A sheep reborn, creature 2.0, still alive and possibly a God trying to save his creation? Seems plausible. Noted.

Featalion

Lightning bolt struck and the turtle started to grow. Size of a forest, a city, a country. It knew what it was. It knew what its goal was. It was huge as a continent is and it was rebuilding what it once loved, the world. Single creation at a time. It wasn’t gonna lose to this puny hell.

Le Na Yan

USSR, 1978, the middle of nowhere. A fat sweaty shopkeeper woke up and looked outside, down the streets of a small Soviet city. A paper plane was flying by. It was hot. Her face hurt from the abacus she was sleeping on. She hated this weird dream, hated this boring hard life, hated this stupid country and hope was nowhere in her sights.

Ash

Universe folded in on itself and God recalled the moment he was a terrible person in a terrible country at a terrible time working a terrible job. Hell was not to be stopped this way. God was a fish now, swiming in the vast ocean of Chaos world became by that point. It was a stream of despair mixed with metal and craziness. It was the only thing left. It was endless though.

Featalion

The shopkeeper snored off a second time around. She sneezed. Sheep fur glided down, reminding her of the farm she lived at. It pissed her off, these weird animals, God and Hell (she was an atheist for Christ’s sake), these rainbows of colors swiming down the abyss, these ridiculous scales, even the damn paper plane as she knew she’ll have to go pick it up in a minute. This was gonna be a long day she thought before smiling up and yelling at another customer. A long, long day.

Le Na Yan

God was furious. Enough of this. Revealing his true face, an emoji smiley, he uncovered another terrible truth about the world he found himself in. It was actually a VR simulation with simplistic emoji-based graphics and while being a God he ruled, no strings attached, his limits lay at what emojis were available at the moment. Either way Hell was getting old hella fast, so…

Ash

The oldest truth in the world came to God’s mind. “Lead it if you can’t conquer it”. He froze and thought of it for a moment. Then he did just that. He let himself become part of the Chaos. Part of the Hell. God let himself loose. God was no more. No fish, no turtle, no sheep, just no more. Universe was balanced again. The Scales shifted back into indifference. Paper plane flew a dozen feet before touching ground. The ground was warm. It was sunny today afterall.
