Hey, everyone! My name is Carmen Rivera. I'm a 23 years old venezuelan who soon would be fleeing the country, to Perú.

I created this account two months ago, but I didn't publish anything until now.

I was trying to think in how to introduce myself "the right way". To pique your interests, I suppose. A few of my friends (and by a few a mean most of them), started their journey in Steemit and were encoraging me to start myself. I wanted to, for a long time, but starting this I wanted to be as genuine as possible. The most me I could be. Unapologetically and without filters.

Unfortunately, I can't be unapologetically me knowing that my friends could be reading what I write (Don't ask why. Also, sorry guys if you ever read this).

Excuse my overdramatic self (by the way, am I allowed to curse here? I feel like I shouldn't). But, yes! because of that I planned to start my Steemit experience writing in English. That, for two reasons:

My friends don't speak english (most of them), so this gives me certain incognito mode.
It is way easier to express your feelings in another language. Something about it not being intimately connected to you, or something.

So, anyway! Here are some facts about myself: I have a B.Ed. in Spanish and Literature (pretty useless right now), I still don't know what I want to do with my life, but I feel weirdly confident about it; after months of hating it, I now unironically enjoy kpop music; I can't tweet without using memes to fully convey what I wanna express; and I like to use humor and sarcasm to cope with my feelings and failures.

What else? I also like to draw, although it has been months since I last draw anything; I used to play the guitar (fingerstyle because I can't sing); and now I'm learning to play the cuatro, but I haven't touch the instrument in weeks. I'm just an acummulation of unfinished projects, apparently.

Here I plan to write about my experience living in a crumbling country (just kidding... but not really), my soon-to-be 6 days journey through south america from my city to Lima, Perú; my struggles facing adulthood now 1.777 miles away from my family and friends with only $500 in my pocket, and every other topic I could enjoy.

I'm sorry for not posting more photos. I genuinely don't have more and- as you can see-, my phone is an android so the quality is not good. Also, sorry if I'm being vague about myself. I do believe that the way you write can say as much about you as what you write about. So, I expect my words can fill that.

I acknowledge I'm a little behind in my experience in life. (I'm a very inexperienced 23 year old, you could say) So, all this could just be me, Christopher Columbus, navegating known waters, thinking he's going to India. And you could be that person reading a history book thinking how stupid I am.

But I don't think I care that much. I'm just trying to find a place where I can let it all out. While I can.

Some days ago, someone I follow on Twitter wrote: "We talk about our struggles because people like to bond over common suffering". He was responding to someone who critizaced college students who constantly joke on social media about their woes. I'm not a student anymore, but I think that statement fits to other phases of our lives in this new era of oversharing and laughing our ways through life.

I'm not exactly sure about what's my "ultimate goal" here (if there's any), but maybe all I'm looking for is something as simple as that; a way to bond.

Could I be talking to a void? Well, yeah, of course; but at least I can say I tried.
