Steem was brought to my attention as a great new way to interact with those who may need our services and also turn people on to the world of cryptocurrency at the same time!

I plan to make another post tomorrow, expanding on the "bet" I've just made - which was completely on a whim (and was more or less a joke) after I heard about Steem and completed a moderate amount of research on the subject. Now that people are challenging me, I'll stand by my word.

Don't get me wrong, I would actually love to see this succeed. I just don't want to see a ton of people lose their hard earned "fiat currency" by investing in something as risky as a cryptocurrency linked to a new social media platform. Watching Steem come out of left field and rise so quickly has made me a bit skeptical. I've read the white paper, and I can see how it -might- actually succeed in the long run. It's an exciting prospect. This is my way of challenging this system while also standing to make a few pesos to put towards research.

I've participated heavily in the Reddit community since 2008, and I would be delighted for an alternative with superior content, moderation, etc.. to become available - especially If that alternative actually compensates users for their time and energy. Really, I would be overjoyed.

If Steemit succeeds, then I will eat said shoe.

I said it, and I'll do it. Please - go ahead and make that happen.

I will also use the funds that are earned in the process of making and promoting this bet for the greater good - through funding additional research that we (The Bunk Police) would be financially incapable of otherwise. Right now, every extra dime that we can spare is spent on keeping up with the flood of research chemicals that is hitting the market. A new substance appears on a weekly, or at some points even daily, basis. So why the hell not. I'm going for broke anyways so we might as well add a shoe to the equation.

The bet might look something like this:

If Steemit is deemed a success by certain reasonable parameters set by the community after a reasonable amount of time, then I will eat (drink) a small shoe blended into a milkshake. On camera. With a smile on my face :)

Beyond that, I will also dedicate every penny that this makes through Steemit in the process of taking on this bet towards funding research leading to the development of testing methods for the flood of new substances that are hitting the market. I will not personally benefit from winning or losing said bet... other than having to eat a shoe, which I'm willing to do for the betterment of humanity. I’ve already risked my freedom several hundred times, this is a bit of a step down in my mind.
