Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) was an Italian astronomer, mathematician, physicist, professor, author, inventor of the laws of motion which was then formulated by Newton, the father of the experimental method, the inventor of the law of falling objects, the inventor of pendulum law, the inventor of the thermometer and telescope, inventor of mathematical theory of parabolic motion.

He was the first person in the world to apply mathematics to analyze mechanics. It links physics and astronomy with mathematics and not with traditional philosophy.
