It's always fun to play games especially for the first time when you are new to it and acting all dumb. That said, the Quest for Stoken game is one I did not know what to expect. As the post write up for this contest describes [here](https://hive.blog/hive-174578/@ocd/ocd-x-stoken-contest), the game is 2D. I did not know what to expect since I've seen games of very high quality that is not in 2D. Nonetheless, I went into the game with an open mind. Scroll down and you see the hive logo and a few reviews. **Next**, press the space bar on the keyboard to proceed. Below is a list of the keys and their functions as stated in the game. You can get to know what key is used for what as you proceed with the game and press up when instructed to. • The right arrow key or D is for moving forward. • The back arrow key or A is for moving backward. • The down arrow key is for ducking. • To use the shield, use the Z alphabet on the keyboard. • To use the sword, use the shift key on the keyboard. • To light the born fire or open objects, use the X letter on the keyboard. • To jump, use the spacebar. • To double jump, press the space bar two times. Now that I know my keys, I proceeded with playing the game. I fought my way through with the help of my sword and shield till I killed it. I killed the monster and realized after there was a notice to not touch the spinning guy but maybe give him a slash. I jumped but died. I did not understand why but for a second try I double jumped and still died and even got the game over notice. I moved forward till I saw the Spinning guy. I saw this water looking feature that looked like a waterfall. It was a bit tougher than the first but after failed attempts, I succeeded in killing the Spinning guy. ![12.PNG](https://images.hive.blog/DQmS9R7qoSan6VJRV6w34263gs2qrCtcvAK5Um571KPyanV/12.PNG) I had a run in with the friendly looking birds but I soon found out they were not friendly. I had to kill them to proceed and fortunately, I was able to. I then had to get past this wide river. Unfortunately, I was too focused on it to take a screenshot. Well forget what I just said. I continued but another spaceship came my way and I retreated. It turns out it was not looking to attack me and so I was able to get a screenshot. ![15.PNG](https://images.hive.blog/DQmXG2BeN1q2J3ZmQGVL8mhNZ7qqcT6KrcTiwALJVpYb66R/15.PNG) I did not understand here since initially the spaceships did not attack me. But in an attempt to jump, I clashed with a spaceship and died. I think that’s the king bird. After moving around and not finding a way through, I jumped into one of the windows and voila, I was in. ![19.PNG](https://images.hive.blog/DQmW2Psrn4io6udjV5S9PimhnmNAvTUWqxbznuLRZ1iQYSz/19.PNG) I was amazed by how beautiful this building looked. The colours inside look very nice. ![20.PNG](https://images.hive.blog/DQmXzq7AheQ9Vz3sDqp7V4igd9wgAJ2fKeKwL49D63cPcDR/20.PNG) This magician looking like creature had an up arrow on top of the hat and when I used my up-arrow key it read, “what is the meaning of this piece? I’ve been contemplating it for hours. I entered into another world to further my quest, ![24.PNG](https://images.hive.blog/DQmWqEKr5mHekbcDmMbGFy2fg9XZ225fN4YwPcfKvjwQkXG/24.PNG) In this new world I couldn’t proceed since my life drastically reduced and whenever I tried to start all over, I would end up here with my last life. Due to that I gave up. I ended up dead and could not proceed. This is where my quest sadly comes to an up. ### My Thoughts On Quest for Stoken. - - - First, let’s talk about the positives. * I like that the graphics for this game are very good especially the one in the world where the player was fascinated by the paintings. The game’s 2D but managed to deliver good visual quality. For my initial concern, I admit I was not disappointed. * I like that there are descriptions of the buildings and names of objects. It informs on what the game is about. * I like the sound or music used in the game. * I like that the game can be played offline once it loads. What are some things I didn’t like? * I don’t like that the life is too short. Just one hit can drain a lot of your health. Short makes it difficult to compete well. * I don’t like that you can’t change the controls. It would be nice to customize the controls there way I want. * The use of the shift key as the sword is something I think should be addressed. You have to turn the sticky keys off to use this well. * Quest for Stoken lacks a pause feature which doesn’t help. It makes for taking screenshots in this case hard to do. Once again I would like to thank the organizers of the contest. I had fun playing the game. Thank you.
