¡Hola! everybody Este será el primero de varios posts donde les contare sobre toda esa música que incrementa mi amor por Colombia. Pasa mucho que cada que escuchamos la música que nos gusta, realizamos cualquier movimiento al ritmo de ella y están las personas que se conforman con tan solo mover el pie o su cabeza y luego estamos los que nos creemos bailarines profesionales e inventamos todo tipo de danzas.

This will be the first of several posts where I will tell you about all that music that increases my love for Colombia. It happens a lot that every time we listen to the music that we like, we make any movement to the rhythm of it and there are people who are satisfied with just moving their feet or their heads and then we are those who believe we are professional dancers and we invent all kinds of dances.

Cuando era muy pequeña en la escuela nos enseñaron la historia y sobre todo la cultura de nuestro país y nuestras regiones, desde ese momento descubrí la música folclórica y sus bellas danzas, que en su mayoría no son mas que pequeñas historias representativas de la cultura de una región, este tipo de música me encanta porque crea en toda una comunidad pertenencia e identidad.

When I was very little in school they taught us the history and especially the culture of our country and our regions, from that moment I discovered folk music and its beautiful dances, which are mostly nothing more than small representative stories of the culture of I love a region, this type of music because it creates belonging and identity in a whole community.

LA CUMBIA

Nace durante la guerra de independencia e inicios de la Republica, debido a que se ganaban batallas y todos se reunían a danzar y celebrar dichas victorias, donde mas se escuchaba en esas épocas es la actual conocida Cartagena de indias cuando se dio la batalla naval entre los últimos españoles y los republicanos, esta confrontación sello la independencia de Colombia.

La cumbia es un género y danza propia de la costa caribe de Colombia y fue en 1940 cuando se popularizo y logro escucharse en toda América latina, con diferentes adaptaciones como la cumbia boliviana, la peruana, la argentina, etc. Lo bonito no es solo la importancia de su historia al marcar un momento tan importante para el país, sino que cada canción de cumbia cuenta una pequeña parte de lo que sucedía en aquella época, por ejemplo, de mis cumbias favoritas:

THE CUMBIA
It was born during the war of independence and the beginning of the Republic, because battles were won and everyone gathered to dance and celebrate these victories, where it was most heard in those times is the current well-known Cartagena de Indias when the naval battle between the last Spaniards and the Republicans, this confrontation sealed the independence of Colombia.
Cumbia is a genre and dance typical of the Caribbean coast of Colombia and it was in 1940 when it became popular and was heard throughout Latin America, with different adaptations such as the Bolivian, Peruvian, and Argentine cumbia, etc. The beauty is not only the importance of its history in marking such an important moment for the country, but each cumbia song tells a small part of what was happening at that time, for example, of my favorite cumbias:

EL PESCADOR

Describe la cotidianidad de un hombre apasionado por su labor y su sentir al ejecutarla, una narrativa simple que acompañada con percusión se convierte en una danza romántica y de cortejo entre mujer y hombre.

THE FISHERMAN

It describes the daily life of a man passionate about his work and the feeling of him when executing it, a simple narrative that, accompanied by percussion, becomes a romantic dance and courtship between woman and man.

LA CANDELA VIVA

Esta canción fue inspirada por un incendio que se genero el 14 de febrero en 1923 en la casa de Luis Roberto león en Chimichagua, cesar. Era un miercoles de ceniza y comenzó porque ana maría flores asaba en un horno de barro panochas y galletas, cuando las fuertes brisas llevaron las chispas hasta el techo de palma de la casa que actualmente se ubica en la calle 6 con carrera 4, esquina, y termino con la mayoría de las casas del pueblo.

THE LIVE CANDELA
This song was inspired by a fire that broke out on February 14, 1923 at Luis Roberto León's house in Chimichagua, Cesar. It was an ash Wednesday and it started because Ana Maria Flores was roasting ears and biscuits in a clay oven, when the strong breezes carried the sparks to the palm roof of the house that is currently located on Calle 6 with Carrera 4, corner, and I end up with most of the houses in town.
