This is the statement I gave to the cops

With a friend I arrived in car to his apartment. The time was around 4 of 5 am. We drove towards his building. My colleague stayed smoking the leftover meth in the car. I went up to his apartment…I think till the third floor. Then I knocked the door several times, until I heard his voice in the other side, asking who I was. I answered to him, and he told me to fuck off, that he was trying to sleep. I insisted enough and, finally, he let me in. I noticed he was tense and nervous, naturally. He wanted to kill me: he was not prepared to have the person he hated the most just in front of him (why did he let me in, hence? I still wonder). I said: *"What a fuck is going on? There is a rumor that you want me dead.”* Without any response, he immediately failed to kick me in the knees, however, I easily knocked him down. Though, I must recognize, that I was in shock: I wasn’t expecting an attack that night in his apartment. The coward stood up and ran to the kitchen. I knew that he was looking for a knife, but I was prepared for such a situation, because I carried one: this was the moment to use it. I overtook him and then stabbed him, not very profoundly, in the back. Albeit I was pretty surprised when, instead of continuing the fight, the coward went out to the staircase terrified. That infuriated me! He started this situation in the first place! He even started this fight! Thus the coward was, in his underwear, bloodstained, screaming and trying to wake up his neighbors, going agilely through the stairs, whilst I was after him—knife in my right-hand. The coward felt, and I took advantage: I approached to him, and then, he said: “This is enough”. But then he immediately kicked me, now with success, in my knees; and I, acting without thinking, embedded the knife in his forehead. **I don’t remember anything else. Toqué la puerta varias veces, hasta que escuché su voz al otro lado de ésta, preguntando que quién era. Le contesté que yo, y me dijo que me marchara, y que regresara luego; que estaba durmiendo. Insistí lo suficiente y, al final, me dejó entrar. Noté que estaba muy tenso y nervioso. Era normal. Él quería matarme: él no estaba preparado para tener a la persona que odiaba con todo su ser frente suyo (para qué me dejó entrar entonces? Aún hoy me pregunto). Le dije: ###### “Qué mierdas pasa? Corre el rumor de que me quieres ver muerto.” ###### Sin contestar me quiso dar una patada en la rodilla que pude esquivar, y fácilmente lo tiré al suelo, aunque reconozco que yo estaba sorprendido. No esperaba que me atacara esa noche, y mucho menos en su departamento. ###### El cobarde rápidamente se levantó y corrió hacia la cocina. Yo sabía bien qué quería: armarse con un cuchillo. Yo estaba preparado para una situación así, y yo portaba uno propio, y era el momento de usarlo. Lo aventajé y pude clavárselo no muy profundamente en la espalda. Me sorprendí cuando, en lugar de proseguir la pelea, salió despavorido por la escalera del servicio. Eso me puso muy furioso! Él había empezado esta situación! Él había empezado esta pelea! The [black metal](https://rateyourmusic.com/list/IakSakkakh/the-true-history-of-black-metal-part-i-the-first-wave/) was just getting started. There were very few fans, and everything was still considered underground. Øystein had recently opened Helvete in his parents’ basement, where all the blackheads of Oslo gathered. And thence, out of the basement of a coward’s folks, Mayhem was born: Hellhammer (drums), Necrobutcher (bass), Øystein (guitar) and Dead (voice)…the latter being the only non-hypocrite. He was a crazy motherfucker. We live in a world of representations. Every theoretical knowledge is a simple adjustment of the world that surrounds us—and this is not the last foundation. A knife, for example, is a knife not because of the attributes of a knife, but because of the utility that we give to that knife. Though, what is left when we eliminate the pragmatic form of the entity? What is left of the knife when we don’t use it to stab? Furthermore, what is left of men when we disregard that thick layer of hypocrite purpose and will? *We only have darkness.* I’m not speaking in the same sense that Christianism understands darkness, because it is fake. I’m speaking of a primitive chaos—a naïve pulse that controls the universe and all it’s ethereal matter. The first time I listened in a concert to Mayhem I was captivated, because it reflected through its [raw and primeval sound that precise darkness.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySoWnxfOnIs) While Dead was holding the mic—dancing hypnotized, almost beside himself and following the rhythm of Øystein’s guitar solo—he grabbed his empty bottle of beer and smashed it in his forehead. And still, with the blood draining through his face (cause apparently this wasn’t enough) he took the sharpest piece of glass, and started to frenetically pierce his forearm…without putting down the mic…without stopping his dance. He almost bled to death that night were it not for the fact that we took him to the hospital. Eran muy pocos sus seguidores, y todo era muy underground. Øystein recientemente había abierto Helvete en el sótano de sus padres, en donde se reunían todos los blackeros de Oslo. Y así, del sótano de los padres de un cobarde, nació Mayhem: Hellhammer (batería), Necrobutcher (bajo), Øystein (guitarra) y Dead (vocalista). Este último era el único no hipócrita del grupo. Él si estaba demente. ###### Vivimos en un mundo de representaciones. Todo el conocimiento teórico es un simple ajuste con el mundo que nos rodea—y éste no es el ultimado fundamento. Hablo de un caos primigenio, y de una pulsión inocente, que controla el universo y todo lo etéreo. ###### La primera vez que vi a Mayhem en vivo me cautivaron, porque reflejaban con su crudo y primitivo sonido esa obscuridad. Mientras Dead sostenía el micrófono, y bailoteaba hipnotizado, casi como fuera de sí, al compás del solo de guitarra de Øystein, cogió del suelo su botella vacía de cerveza y se la estrelló en la cara. Y, aún con la sangre escurriéndole de la frente, como si esto no le hubiera sido suficiente, agarró el fragmento más grande y puntiagudo de cristal, y se lo clavó frenéticamente en el brazo…sin soltar el micrófono…sin dejar de bailar. Dead’s personality

Dead was not a standard guy. I spoke to him several times after that, and he was very thin, and his voice, when speaking, was almost not audible: a very shy and misanthrope individual, indeed. When he was on the stage, however, his darkness revived, and that angst, already described, inherently human arose. He was obsessed with the death, with his own death. When he was around ten, he later told me, he was declared clinically deceased during a few minutes after a skiing accident. *Everything changed after that.* Dead thought that life is a dream, and he wanted to be in harmony with death; for that reason, it was very common for him to bury his own clothes for weeks, so he could use them after, and feel wrapped up in the humidity and putrefaction that followed the physical body’s demise. Dead attempted to sleep in graveyards, and he exhumed putrefied bodies to smell them. On various occasions, Dead killed rats and little vermin, and put the carcasses in his pocket, until decomposition. Pude charlar con él varias veces tiempo después. Se encorvaba, y su voz apenas era audible: una persona misántropa y tímida por naturaleza. En cambio, cuando estaba en el escenario, su obscuridad le renacía, y le brotaba esa angustia innatamente humana, que ya describí antes. ###### Dead estaba obsesionado con la muerte, con su propia muerte. Cuando era niño, me platicó, fue declarado clínicamente muerto durante unos cuantos minutos tras un accidente en esquí. ###### Desde entonces nunca fue igual. ###### Creía que su vida era un sueño. Así que, para estar más en contacto con el último despertar, para sentirse más en sintonía con la muerte, era usual que enterrara durante semanas su ropa, para luego desenterrarla y portarla, y poder sentirse envuelto en la humedad y podredumbre que creía acarreaba la muerte del cuerpo. Procuraba dormir en cementerios, y exhumaba cadáveres semi putrefactos para poder olerlos. Øystein's propaganda

As I was able to be closer and closer to Øystein, in several gatherings, I realized that he was primarily concerned with fame. He didn’t care about the purpose of our art. He didn’t desire the underground state of black metal: he was just interested in propaganda and speaking to the media, so we could get mainstream. Find by me, though, the problem resided with his inconsistency, because he formerly proclaimed exactly the opposite: black was for the chosen ones. When he found Dead’s body, he immediately took a picture of the corpse, without moving the shotgun (whose bullets had gone through Dead’s skull), he conceived the cover for the newest Mayhem’s album: The Dawn of the Black Hearts ([link to explicit image](https://s9.postimg.org/d8wt5oefz/Carcass.jpg)). As a result, Necrobutcher quit terrified, haha. Consequently the starvation and the willing to eat came together: Øystein invited me to be part of Mayhem as the bass and lead singer. At the time I was working with my own project, [Burzum]( http://www.burzum.org/). As I’ve said, I have a problem with hypocrisy. It’s because of it that the human being is so apart of embracing the darkness: he just used Dead’s corpse for propaganda, not because to pay tribute to his ethereal liberation. *The situation got tense.* In the first place he had created the vast roots that supported the cult of our genre. On the other hand, I felt disgusted by the assiduousness with which he spoke to the media. He was not consequent and solid with his philosophy. *And was I?* In ancient times, the Scandinavian traditions and the pagan religion perfectly rendered the obscurity and pulse, already described, that sustains the universe. When Christian missioners arrived, they destroyed the majestic Viking temples, and built, instead, churches and Christ effigies. That is why our movement burned so many churches. No le importaba el propósito de nuestro arte. El problema residía en que era inconsistente, pues él antes, cuando todo empezaba, hubo proclamado exactamente lo contrario: que el black era para los elegidos. ###### Cuando encontró el cadáver de Dead, inmediatamente le tomó una foto al cuerpo, y sin mover la escopeta (cuyas balas habían atravesado el cráneo de Dead), concibió la portada del nuevo disco de Mayhem: The Dawn of the Black Hearts. ###### Como resultado, Necrobutcher renunció, horrorizado, a la banda, jaja. Consecuentemente el hambre y las ganas de comer se unieron por fin: Øystein me invitó para que formase parte, como bajista y vocal, de la banda. No fue sino hasta la llegada de los misioneros cristianos que los grandes templos vikingos fueron derrumbados, y se construyeron en su lugar iglesias y efigies de Cristo. ###### Por eso nuestro movimiento quemó tantas iglesias: hasta usamos lo que quedó de Fantoft como portada de Aske. ###### Tiempo después renuncié a Mayhmen, para proseguir mi propio camino.
