¿Les ha pasado que en oportunidades decimos cosas de las cuales después nos arrepentimos? ¡seguro estoy que si!.

El relato que a continuacion les voy a contar, toma forma en mi familia materna, mas directamente en mi mamá, mi madre una hermosa mujer de piel morena, luchadora y emprendedora, con un buen corazon y que ama sus hijos con el alma.

Por parte de mi mamá somos 5 hermanos, 4 hombres y una mujer, los nombres respectivos en orden de nacimiento son: Lois, Maryelis, Andry, Hendry (este humilde servidor) , y el menor de todos Kendry, cabe destacar que los dos hermanos mayores son del primer matrimonio de mi mamá, y los ultimo tres varones son del ultimo y actual matrimonio.

Mi madre cumple años el día 14 de Diciembre, transcurría el año 2001 en nuestra amada Venezuela, como de costumbre y desde que tengo uso de razón, era para mi familia un gusto celebrar el cumpleaños de mi mamá, estando en marcha las festividades decembrina y con la casa arreglada y bien adornada se nos hacia muy fácil festejar su cumpleaños.

Así mismo, aquel diciembre de 2001 nos reunimos en casa para festejar, yo apenas contaba con 12 años de edad, recuerdo que teníamos la torta (pastel de cumpleaños), la comida, la familia reunida, la música, y no puedo negar que también la presencia de alcohol, mi familia al reunirse siempre solía hacer estas cosas, todo en orden y siempre en nuestro ambiente familiar, aquel 14 de Diciembre un tío (hermano de mi mamá) decide regalarle una torta (pastel de cumpleaños), a lo cual no vimos mayor inconveniente, pues al final serian dos tortas para la misma cumpleañera, todo transcurrió de la mejor manera como de costumbre.

En casa, tenemos la costumbre de cantar el cumpleaños feliz antes de las 12 de la media noche, pues en nuestro sistema horario, las 12 am le da la bienvenida a un nuevo día, nos acercamos todos a la mesa y recuerdo como si fuese ayer la expresión de mi mamá, al ver ambas tortas juntas dijo: ¡el próximo año para mi no habrá torta!, no se si alguien mas se dio cuenta de esto, pero yo no quise hacer mucho caso a la expresión, el tiempo paso, llego año nuevo y con el un paro petrolero que atravesó Venezuela en el año 2002, fue un año bien difícil para mi familia económicamente hablando, sin embargo el año transcurrió y en todo momento vimos la provisión de Dios en la mesa.

Llego Diciembre, en la familia siempre nos embarga la fecha, pues siempre fue algo muy especial, toda la familia reunida, aun los que vivían en otras ciudades, pero este diciembre era algo diferente, pues un tio había propuesto la idea de celebrar el cumpleaños de mamá en casa de los abuelos en San Carlos del Zulia, una ciudad ubicada a 7 horas de nuestra ciudad de residencia, fue emocionante, aunque ese año no todos podríamos estar presentes pues los gastos que representaba un viaje eran bastante significativos, sin embargo la mayor parte de la familia estuvo de acuerdo.

Cabe mencionar, que mi hermano mayor Lois, vivía en San Carlos, pues ya era adulto y se había casado con una buena mujer y era padre de dos niños, tenia una vida realizada y un buen empleo como reservista de la nación, llego la fecha, y mi mama viaja un día antes de su cumpleaños a casa de los abuelos en compañía de parte de la familia, de aquí en adelante mi mama relata lo siguiente: >>It is worth mentioning that my older brother Lois lived in San Carlos, since he was already an adult and had married a good woman and was the father of two children. - llegamos, alegres como siempre, pues teníamos bastante tiempo sin vernos, salude a mamá, a papá, llego Lois con su esposa y los dos niños, comimos, y nos sentamos en el frente de la casa ah echar cuentos, se nos pasaron las horas, los niños se quedaron dormidos y Lois decide irse a su apartamento, y el resto de la familia dormiríamos en casa de mamá.

- Antes de irse Lois, acordamos que al siguiente día, nos veríamos en casa de Mama, pues la idea era pasar mi cumpleaños en familia, sin mas, nos despedimos hasta el siguiente día.

- Cuando hibamos de camino a casa, Lois se consiguió con un amigo que estaba tomando y lo invita a tomarse unos tragos, a lo cual accedió.

- Cuando ya era prudente se terminó aquel momento, pues al día siguiente teníamos un compromiso familiar, Lois sale a acompañar su amigo unas pocas cuadras mas abajo en el mismo barrio.

>> -When it was time to stop, because the next day we had a family engagement, Lois goes out to join her friend a few blocks down in the same neighborhood. ***

Yendo de camino, aquel amigo de mi hermano que tenia problemas con unos pandilleros, justamente se consiguen con ellos y se inicia una riña, donde justamente mi hermano pierde la vida al ser disparado por la espalda cuando huía para tratar de salvar su vida, llegando justamente en frente de la casa de su jefe se desploma y pierde la vida aquel 14 de Diciembre de 2002 en horas de la madrugada, día del cumpleaños de mi mamá... no tengo palabra para describir lo difícil que fue aquel momento y lo que ha sido peor aun, cada 14 de Diciembre de cada año, solo puedo recordar aquellas palabras de mi mamá diciendo en su cumpleaños anterior ¡El próximo año para mi no habrá torta!, cuanta verdad contenían aquellas palabras, pues en efecto al anochecer de ese mismo día 14 de Diciembre, mi mamá tenia en medio de una sala velatoria el cuerpo inerte de su primogénito, mi hermano mayor.

>> On the way there, my brother's friend who had problems with some gang members, got into a fight with them, where my brother lost his life when he was shot in the back while trying to save his life. He arrived in front of his boss's house and collapsed, losing his life on December 14, 2002, on my mother's birthday. Amigo lector, espero que esta experiencia familiar, la cual fue muy dura, y lo sigue siendo, sirva de reflexión, Cuida lo que sale de tu boca, las palabras tienen poder, y sin darnos cuentas lo que confesamos con nuestras propias palabras lo estamos atrayendo, y lo que es peor aun, tiene aun el poder de afectarnos no solo a nosotros, sino también a quienes mas amamos.
