# English ____ Greetings again, community. I discovered Miyazaki's work years ago and found it truly inspiring. It's wonderful to connect with the way he executes his purpose through art and understand how it is brought to its maximum splendor. ![image.png](https://images.hive.blog/DQmcDnzaLmTfyXKVSX35t2aAEPzNtt2upbcT7QrUJcjtbju/image.png) To put it simply, Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese animator, filmmaker, artist and one of the people who has taken animated stories to another level. When I saw his film Princess Mononoke, it was the first time I had a different experience with an animated feature film. Despite the passing of time, these seem to be masterpieces that age well and that you can enjoy at any time, regardless of the subject matter. Then I saw Spirited Away, and it wasn't what I expected. I had seen many edits and expected it to be much more poetic and peaceful, but then I understood that it is something much more intense and greater than a beautiful literary story. Here you can feel Miyazaki's passion for the wind and flying, as well as his infinite capacity for creation. I can say that, just by watching half of the film, you know that you are watching the work of someone who is on another level. ![image.png](https://images.hive.blog/DQmUR2ReAwnGERdQPmUryjJ1Ar381tmDBPK3NQTT6Ta4i5N/image.png) I recently reflected on how there are things like movies, songs, and even books that you might discover and enjoy at a time that wasn't right for you, perhaps because you didn't fully understand the subject matter and simply weren't old enough to watch that movie or series that you think you enjoyed. That's why we often rewatch productions and find things we didn't notice before and enjoy them even more. Therefore, there are stories that are made for the perfect age of a person, whether they are very young or very old. And that's exactly what happened to me with this Miyazaki documentary. I think I saw it at the right time, so let's talk now about ‘The Kingdom of Madness and the Dreams’. ## i. intro This wonderful documentary (2013) gives us a glimpse into the working environment of the great Hayao Miyazaki. I can say that I felt conditioned before watching it because I thought I would find many scenes of creativity, but the opposite happened. In addition, it seeks to bring us closer to understanding the routines and habits of the creator, which for me is essential in any artist. We see Miyazaki taking time to stretch or exercise and encouraging his employees to do the same. To a large extent, his work reminded me a little of Terrence Malick because he has no idea how his film will end; that is, he does not follow a specific script, but rather comes up with ideas and lets the story surprise him. Personal development teaches and encourages practice regardless of your context or motivation, but you must base your life on discipline, which comes from habits, leading to a consolidated routine. You could say artist, as well as entrepreneur, that is, in any field, just do it and learn as you go, even if we feel uncomfortable. Perhaps the most intense way I've read about, but not experienced myself, is discipline at the gym. Many people get discouraged and quit the gym, but I am at the gym and it has never crossed my mind to quit, because I don't really enjoy the gym. We know that if we choose a brush and dip it in red paint and make a line, we will see a red line, but when we allow ourselves to immerse ourselves in that process, that's when art surprises us. That's why it's very important to create on the fly, and also because once you “finish” and look at it again, you'll be surprised by your own creation. Miyazaki probably has a plan, but he is very open to being surprised or inspired by his creativity, and he knows it. But you could also say that in animated art it is much more difficult to make decisions, since the team is working together all the time and if one idea does not match another, the direction can very easily lose its meaning. It is also worth mentioning that Miyazaki is respected by all his employees and has admirable authority and quiet leadership. ## iii. It is captivating to see a person who has been doing this work for so long, continuing to try to offer his work to the world without any hint of arrogance. For me, it is simply inspiring and motivating. Miyazaki made another film last year, and sometimes I contrast some questions about art: for example, would I still be making music today when I am 80 years old? Before seeing this documentary, I would say no, but then I might hesitate, because it made me understand that there are no limits or ages for the arts and that you can create things for people of any age regardless of your own age, which seems crazy to me. ___ ## iv. I recommend this documentary. It has some very aesthetic images at the beginning, and if you need a few hours to meditate and find a little inspiration and tranquility, I would say that any work by Miyazaki, whether a film or a documentary, would not disappoint anyone who is dedicated to creativity. # Spanish ____ Saludos de nuevo comunidad. Cuando vi su película La princesa de Mononoke, fue la primera vez que sentí una experiencia distinta en cuanto a un largometraje de animación, a pesar de los años parece que son obras maestras que envejecen difícilmente y que en cualquier momento podrías disfrutar no importa el tema con el que te encuentres. Luego vi el 'El viaje de Chihiro' y no fue como esperaba. Había visto muchos edits y esperaba que fuese mucho más poética y tranquila, después entendí que es algo mucho más intenso y grande que una historia literaria bonita, aquí se nota la pasión de Miyazaki por el viento y volar, además de su infinita capacidad de crear. Puedo decir que, con solo ver la mitad de la película, ya sabes que estás ante una obra de alguien que está en otros niveles. ![image.png](https://images.hive.blog/DQmUR2ReAwnGERdQPmUryjJ1Ar381tmDBPK3NQTT6Ta4i5N/image.png) Hace poco reflexioné en que hay cosas como películas o canciones incluso libros que a lo mejor encuentras y disfrutas en un momento que no te tocaba, quizá porque no conoces del todo el tema y que simplemente no estás en edad para ver esa película o serie que crees que disfrutaste, por eso muchas veces volvemos a ver producciones y nos encontramos con cosas que no notamos anteriormente y disfrutamos aún más. Por tanto, hay historias que están hechas para la perfecta edad en la que esté una persona ya sea muy joven o muy mayor. Y justamente me pasó con este documental de Miyazaki, pienso que lo vi en el momento correcto, así que hablemos ahora de 'The kingsdom of madness and the dreams'. ## i. intro Este maravilloso documental del 2013 nos acerca un poco al entorno de trabajo del gran Hayao Miyazaki, puedo decir que me sentí condicionado antes de verlo porque creí que me encontraría con muchas escenas de creatividad, pero pasó todo lo contrario fue mucho más filosófico, íntimo, quizá introspectivo y a veces institucional. ![image.png](https://images.hive.blog/DQmWYR9oq4vMCA89D6ezERfn4vqiqNYJPUsR5Cka5mhJCPz/image.png) Miyazaki vuelve a hacer una película para retirarse, pero desde el inicio nos regalan maravillosas escenas de su ambiente, naturaleza, entorno, todo es muy tranquilo y relajante. Además, busca acercarnos al entendimiento de las rutinas y hábitos del creador, cosa que para mí es esencial en cualquier artista. Vemos a Miyazaki que tiene horas para estirarse o acondicionarse físicamente y contagiar eso a sus trabajadores, también vemos que tiene sus horas para salir a ver el sol y cómo usa un reloj/timer supongo que, para ejercer sus rituales de concentración, como en esos vaivenes de creatividad donde cierra los ojos y dibuja con las manos, dando entender que consigue un momentum de ideas. ![image.png](https://images.hive.blog/DQmcef6TwxMRv4tpE9ZMaLTmJUdfpmaKfsPpkJxZ5PLD9kS/image.png) ## ii. En gran parte su trabajo me pareció un poco a Terrence Malick porque no tiene idea de cómo va a terminar su película, es decir no sigue un guion en concreto, sino que va teniendo ideas y deja que la historia le sorprenda. Esto es un punto clave para cualquier artista creador que siempre ha pasado por ese dilema de esperar el momento perfecto para crear, lo cual muchas veces acaba en un estancamiento sin intención. ![image.png](https://images.hive.blog/DQmW98dJ6SPeywDyeHGgKY8i1p8mRTGNiwxe4HJwG4VFzRs/image.png) Un artista debe crear a partir del hábito, no importa si no estás motivado, el desarrollo personal enseña y fomenta la práctica sin importar tu contexto, tu motivación, pero debes basar tu vida en la disciplina y esto se da por los hábitos, lo cual desemboca en una rutina consolidada. Se puede decir artista, como también emprendedor, es decir en cualquier ámbito, simplemente hacerlo y aprender sobre la marcha, aunque estemos incómodos. Quizás la manera más heavy que yo he leído, pero no experimentado, es la disciplina en el gimnasio. Muchas personas se desmotivan y abandonan el gimnasio, yo estoy en el gimnasio y nunca se me ha pasado por la mente abandonarlo, porque de verdad ni le agarro gusto al gimnasio, o sea en el momento me emociono un poco, me gusta, pero fuera del gimnasio no pienso en ello, porque sé que, si me permito obsesionarme o apasionarme por esto, la motivación me puede abrazar y en el momento en que no esté, podrá hacer que yo abandone el gimnasio, siempre y cuando no tenga mi rutina determinada por la disciplina. ___ ![image.png](https://images.hive.blog/DQmZ9YpS32BgqJvyxkYtirgEQqUJZt7nxDar1MyZL5eXBDm/image.png) ____ El arte tiene algo muy brutal para mí y es que siempre te sorprende, sobre todo porque el arte y los ámbitos creativos se basan en recursos que no sabemos exactamente como responderán, sabemos que si elegimos un pincel y lo mojamos con pintura roja y hacemos una línea, veremos una línea roja, pero cuando nos dejamos sumergir en ese proceso es cuando el arte nos sorprende, es por esto que es muy importante crear sobre la marcha, además de que una vez "terminas" y vuelves a verlo, nuevamente te sorprenderás de tu propia creación. Miyazaki, es probable que tenga un plan, pero está muy abierto a dejarse sorprender o vislumbrar por su creatividad, él lo sabe. Pero también se podría decir que en arte animado es mucho más difícil tomar decisiones, ya que el equipo está trabajando en conjunto todo el rato y si alguna idea no coincide con otra, el rumbo puede perder sentido muy fácilmente. A diferencia del actor que puede ser corregido en una película con gente real, ya sea el movimiento o ciertas palabras, en la animación se puede estar constantemente dibujando un paisaje y equivocándote por mínimos detalles hasta lograr lo que el director quiere. ![image.png](https://images.hive.blog/DQmezSErXfFjSmSNGgYC6CNerAAZDhD1Tm225x2yoL15mJW/image.png) En esencia este documental quiere también mostrar cómo en un trabajo institucional, vive el proceso de un nuevo producto, mucho estrés y decisiones que tomar, pero no se siente para nada abrumador ni en emergencia, al menos no cómo la mayoría lo entendemos. Vale decir también que Miyazaki es respetado por todos sus trabajadores, tiene una autoridad admirable, un liderazgo silencioso. ## iii. Se muestra como encontrar una voz de un actor para un personaje, la manera en que avanza la película y el recibimiento del entorno de trabajo, los sentimientos del creador y también el manejo de la presión en esta cultura que puede ser exageradamente distinta a nosotros. ![image.png](https://images.hive.blog/DQmUdNPXZodJ5Pd8TUvvqRkEU1vz7At4URJrqJ5Hk1RiAdW/image.png) También hay escenas muy emocionantes de Miyazaki recibiendo su propia película y también, cómo vive para crear cosas para los niños, ya que son parte de su propósito en la vida. Cautiva ver a una persona que lleva tanto tiempo haciendo este trabajo, seguir intentando proponer una obra para el mundo sin ánimos de arrogancia. Para mí es simplemente inspirador y motivante, Miyazaki el año pasado hizo una película más y a veces contrasto un poco algunas cuestiones sobre el arte: cómo por ejemplo ¿Seguiría yo haciendo música de hoy día en cuanto tenga 80 años? Antes de ver este documental diría que no pero luego podría dudar, porque me hizo entender que para las artes no hay límites ni edades y que puedes crear cosas para las personas de cualquier edad sin importar la edad tú mismo tengas, eso me parece una locura. ___ ## iv.
